Comparison of Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla

Jetta vs Corolla. Fight of direct competitors. — DRIVE2

Disputes between Toyota fans and adherents of the German automobile industry (usually VAG products) are ongoing.
I read with interest the comparative test “Between East and West” in the Ukrainian Autoreview No. 3 (157). Let me remind you that three months ago Corolla (1.

8) won against Honda Civic (1.8) and Ford Focus (2.0) see No. 20 for 2013. And finally, direct competitors with the most popular engines clashed. Toyota's naturally aspirated 1.6 with dual phase control Dual VVTi versus the all-VAG turbocharged 1.4 TSI.

Who slows down less - the Japanese CVT or the German DSG? The latest Mazda 3 with its know-how Skyactive 1.5 engine added intrigue. People expressed their arguments on various forums.

The debate flared up... And now we listen to the respected (I think the best in the post-Soviet space) Autoreview. Let's go.

About engines.

The most important question, oddly enough, for many is “Who will tear who?” Auto review: “Measurements using the VBox Mini device on a closed section of the road showed that Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen reach 100 km/h in the same way: in about 11.5 seconds.” Don’t forget that Honda has a 1.8 displacement and 140 horses. And the Germans give in the passport data the acceleration of this Jetta is 9.8 s.

Are they lying? Or is it the “wrong” car on the test? But the fact, as they say, is obvious. Mazda with a new engine is already one and a half seconds behind. But it is economical (7.8 liters versus 8.3-8.5 for other competitors). How will an engine with a compression ratio of 14:1 work with our gasoline? Should I take the old 1.6 105 horses? It is tested and reliable.

But the dynamics are dead (let’s remember the reviews of Mazda drivers of past three rubles - only 2.0!) And the appetite... So where is the advantage of a turbocharged Volkswagen engine? The power is the same (122 hp each), the consumption is also comparable. In terms of dynamics, the Corolla is a little better - in the “Dynamics-Comfort” diagram (page 121) the Japanese one ranks higher.

Although, according to the factory data, everything is much better in the Jetta - acceleration, torque, and consumption... But in real life?***

Now about the boxes.

Autoreview: “You just need to remember the “economical” nature of the 7-speed DSG robot - and proactively press the gas pedal. In “drive”, the pre-selective traditionally quickly climbs into higher gears and hesitates in moving down.

And in traffic jams it’s annoying with vibrations when the clutches are closed and too often jumps from first gear to second and back.”

Toyota's CVT is not bad, unlike the DSG, but only in combination with 1.8. And with 1.6 it’s only good for leisurely driving.

Auto review: “In dynamic traffic, you drive as if with a slipping clutch - the crankshaft revolutions are ahead of the acceleration rate. If you press the gas pedal deeply at the start, then in the first second the Toyota just stands still.”

That's why my car has a 6-speed manual transmission. The choice is incomprehensible to many slot machine fans. But this is MY decision.***

And now about the brittleness.

Autoreview: “It’s a pity that modern Volkswagens cannot be called reliable.” So this is not news to everyone. Only those who are far from cars don’t know about problems with DSG... I don’t see reviews on VAG forums like the following: “I drove three hundred thousand on a TSI - everything is OK.”

Maybe, who knows? Give me a link. The Toyota CVT is now in its sixth year... Where are the complaints? Engines with a 1ZR-FE chain drive can easily run the same mileage as the previous 1.6 with the 3ZZ-FE index.***

The suspensions are good on both cars. Energy-intensive, comfortable.

Unlike Honda.

***

Brakes. Autoreview: “If the Corolla is sinless in extreme deceleration, then the Jetta has a strong disinhibition when ABS is operating, and as a result, a long stopping distance.”

***

Why is a Jetta better than a Corolla? Auto review: “The Jetta is more enjoyable to drive. Just don’t start a song about the Volksvagen Review. Try it yourself! Appreciate the huge trunk with a high-quality finish, unlike Japanese cars, sit in the comfortable rear seats, then sit in the excellent driver’s seat with wide adjustment options ... "

“The steering wheel is the cleanest, the handling is reliable and exciting at the same time.” “And in terms of noise insulation, the Jetta is the best.” They also spoke well about the traction characteristics of the 1.4 turbo engine, which is: “one third more powerful than “atmospheric” competitors. When accelerating from a standstill, it easily causes the wheels to slip.”

I have a question. Why then is the Corolla better than the Jetta in terms of dynamics in the diagram?

***

In terms of visibility, the Corolla's thickened windshield pillars at the very bottom were criticized (they reduce visibility), and the Jetta was forgiven for its small rear-view mirrors (enough). Although, if you look at the photo of the reflections of the silhouette of the crossover coming from behind, you can see that it is difficult to fit and is very distorted (page 23)

***

And finally, about a sore point for everyone (well, almost everyone...). Those. about the cost of cars. I wrote in my review in September that Octavia and Jetta are really leaders in the class, but the Germans really want money. There were many objections that this was not true. And paying a million (meaning rubles) or about 30 thousand USD for a Corolla is not normal.

***Author review writes in the “What’s the price?” section: Toyota Corolla 1.6 ((122 hp) with a CVT and in the initial Live version costs 25,176 USD (six airbags, ABS, air conditioning, electric windows and heated front seats). The test car in Style for 30052 USD has 7 airbags, 2-zone climate, CD player, rear view camera and pearl paint. The most affordable Corolla 1.33 with manual costs 19487 USD.Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 TSI (122 hp) with a DSG robot can be purchased for 35,814 USD - while the initial Pride configuration does not have rear windows or an engine start button, but does have a CD receiver and heated seats. The test was carried out by a much more expensive sedan with leather inserts on the seats, climate control, parking sensors, keyless entry and other options. The basic Jetta 1.4 TSI (122 hp) costs 32,800 USD, and the most powerful sedan 1.4 TSI (150 hp) with DSG is estimated at a minimum of 37,990 USD.

Let's just calculate the difference between basic machines of the same power, not on the handle. 35814 : 25176 = 1.42 times less to pay for a Toyota.

And more about price comparison: “A Jetta 1.4 TSI equipped with the Comfortline version with DSG will cost 39,820 USD. For a Corolla in a similar configuration they ask for much less - 30,759 USD. Here the difference is smaller, but still VERY significant. 39820: 30759= 1.3 times. For 9061USD you can buy a modest, but one more car. It is for this reason that I did not buy the Golf Variant in 2003, preferring the Toyota Corolla Wagon. The engines were 1.6, Volkswagen was empty, and Toyota had a very rich filling for those times. Now the kitchen is the same. If you don't agree, give us your arguments.

***

with the statement that a Corolla for 30 thousand bucks is impractical . Therefore, my choice is a car with a slightly higher configuration than the base one, with a 1.6 engine, manual six-speed gearbox, air conditioning, heated seats and mirrors, 4 power windows and standard music. For everything about everything 22800 USD.

Toyota Corolla or Volkswagen Jetta: which is better?

Toyota Corolla is a fairly compact vehicle produced by the Toyota concern. In addition, the car holds the record for the number of sales of this model throughout the world.

Based on the data, by the end of 2000, exactly 25 million cars were sold. At the beginning of 2006, this model turned 40 years old.

Throughout this time, ten generations of these vehicles have changed and the total sales volume amounted to more than 40 million cars.

The very first car of the Toyota Corolla brand was presented on January 1, 1966 at three exhibitions at once - in Asia, Europe and America. Initially, this model had only rear-wheel drive, round headlights, unusual for that time, and a longitudinal arrangement of the car engine. Over the entire existence of the Toyota Corolla, the car was equipped with five body styles.

But now the Toyota Corolla has a serious competitor - the Volkswagen Jetta. What is better? Now let’s look at it in detail.

Even before August 2013 and 2014 in Russia, sales of the two main giants in the global auto industry, the Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla, were at the same level. At the same time, there was no special demand for Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta cars.

Classic versus modern

In 2015, the Volkswagen Jetta, which was introduced at the very beginning of 2010, finally got rid of its serious similarities with the Volkswagen Golf. Now it is a self-sufficient vehicle. The exterior design also resembles the Volkswagen Passat, but the elongated lights make the Volkswagen Jetta similar to the Audi A4.

In general, the model’s appearance is restrained and calm without any fashionable accents. The design, in principle, also continues to be relevant. The previous generation of Volkswagen Jetta was incredibly simple. But in the new model, strict and very prominent shapes now predominate.

With the new eleventh generation Toyota Corolla, the Japanese concern decided to experiment. Now this model is more expressive in appearance. The new chrome radiator grille now forms just one main line, which is connected by the headlights - this makes it more impressive and elongated.

It is important to note that the Toyota Corolla uses Ferrari technology - the side beams of this car continue under the main lenses of the headlights. Large air intakes and a powerful angular contour make the car very noticeable on the road.

Based on this, both the Toyota Corolla and the Volkswagen Jetta are good in appearance. At the same time, Toyota has a more unique design, while Volkswagen has a rigor that is no different from other models from the same manufacturer.

In terms of dimensions, everything is approximately the same. Toyota is 4620 mm long, 1775 mm wide and 1465 mm high. Volkswagen in dimensions: length - 4659 mm, width - 1778 mm, height - 1482 mm.

Comfort without any frills

The interior design of a Volkswagen Jetta directly depends on the basic configuration of the vehicle. The gray plastic on the front panel in the basic basic configuration is perfectly complemented by the chrome dashboard. In any case, the German car is equipped with very high-quality and reliable plastic, thanks to which the interior looks more ergonomic.

All the main details of the modern interior, in addition to the lower parts on the front panel, as well as the doors, are smooth, without roughness. In principle, the internal fit can be considered ideal, since the sound insulation is of the highest quality in this class.

It is much better than the previous version of the car. For such a car, it is noteworthy that the Volkswagen Jetta also has a fairly large trunk with a capacity of 510 liters, which makes it more versatile.

It should also be noted that the front seats are comfortable and suitable for tall people.

But the sensations from the overall interior of the Toyota Corolla are somewhat different. Naturally, there is also soft plastic in the cabin, although it is located relatively locally. But in the Toyota Corolla, the interior looks more convenient and comfortable, and there is more space in the rear seats. The multimedia system with a large display is convenient and looks better than in the Volkswagen.

It is designed more for a comfortable and fast ride, while compared to the Volkswagen Jetta, which has a more restrained appearance, the Toyota Corolla is more expressive. The pressure on the horizontal and vertical areas is very pronounced and it is this factor that adds individuality to this model. The trunk of the Toyota Corolla is quite compact - the volume is 452 liters.

If we compare these two cars, then the German car is better in terms of noise insulation, but the internal characteristics of the “Japanese” are more preferable in terms of convenience and ergonomics.

If we compare cars in terms of power, then when accelerating, Toyota behaves much more quickly, since Volkswagen’s engine reacts less quickly to pressing the gas pedal. But then the car quickly picks up speed. Standard power in the Toyota Corolla is 99 hp.

(and this is only the basic configuration - there are also those designed for 122 hp and 140 hp), the Volkswagen Jetta has 105 hp configurations. and 85 hp And also 122 and 150 hp. respectively.

At the same time, the consumption of the Volkswagen Jetta, compared to the Toyota Corolla, is higher, both on the highway and in the city.

You also need to pay attention to the suspension. The Toyota handles large bumps better, but there is roll in corners and a slow response to turning the steering wheel. Volkswagen, on the other hand, corners more clearly, but the suspension is also a little stiffer because of this.

Car equipment

The average Toyota trim level is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine, as well as a modern CVT of the latest generation. But the most popular and in demand is the Toyota Corolla, equipped with a 1.8 engine and the latest generation CVT. Traditionally for all Asian manufacturers, the Toyota Corolla is sold in five fixed trim levels.

Other Corolla configurations are much better equipped. True, these improvements relate more to technical characteristics and not to interior design. The most expensive configuration includes a higher-quality car stereo system, modern electronics, heated glass with the latest technology, a more spacious interior and the most powerful LED headlights.

It is also important to pay attention to the fact that today the Jetta has a wider price range.

This is due to the fact that today, due to its rather high cost, a rational purchase can be considered the purchase of a Volkswagen Jetta with the simplest configuration, which includes a 1.4 engine and a manual transmission.

But other configurations are overpriced. These are cars with a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine and automatic transmission.

Comparative test of Toyota Corolla (generation XI restyling), Volkswagen Jetta (generation VI restyling) – Optimal balance

The list of changes in the exterior of the updated Corolla is, in general, standard - the changed “filling” of the headlights (which received LED high and low beams), a new bumper and rear lights, which also shone with diodes. But, if you put the pre-restyling version next to it, the latter will immediately seem outdated: the updated car looks clearly fresher and more dynamic than its predecessor.

In addition to changes in appearance, finishing materials in the cabin have been updated, sound insulation has been improved, the steering has been reconfigured (it has acquired a clearer zero position) and the suspension has been modified for better handling.

The power units are the same - naturally aspirated petrol, but now they meet Euro 5 standards. These are a 1.3-liter engine with a capacity of 99 hp, a 1.6-liter 122-horsepower unit and, finally, a 1.8-liter engine , developing 140 hp.

With.

The initial version is equipped exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, the most powerful - only with a continuously variable transmission. But the version with a medium engine (122 hp) can have both types of transmission. Prices for starting configurations start at 949,000 rubles and end at 1,277,000 rubles.

As for its rival, the Volkswagen Jetta, the model has been on the market for a long time; in a year or two we should wait for a new generation model. But the “old man” is still in service. His appearance is classic - Volkswagen, and therefore he looks prestigious and respectable, although a little boring.

The range of power units is a little more “refined” than that of its competitor. There are also three engines, but there are already four power options. Thus, the initial 1.6 liter naturally aspirated engine develops 90 hp. This is followed by a more modern unit of the same displacement with a capacity of 110 hp. And the third engine is turbocharged, with a volume of 1.4 liters, and it develops either 125 or 150 hp.

And for options with gearboxes, it’s even better to understand the configurator on the brand’s website. There are 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a 7-speed robotic DSG with two clutches. The price range for initial configurations is from 906,000 to 1,281,000 rubles.

We have tested configurations that are comparable in power. This is a 122-horsepower Toyota Corolla with a CVT, prices for which start at 1,096,000 rubles, and a 125-horsepower Jetta with DSG, asking for 1,192,000 rubles.

Avant-garde and classic

The interior architecture of the updated Toyota Corolla has not changed, but the central part of the front panel has received a “tide” of black impact-resistant glass, making it look much more expensive than the pre-restyling model. To be honest, we have never seen such a solution in interior decoration before.

In short, the interior of the Japanese sedan looks fresher and more interesting than that of its German rival. Unlike Toyota, the interior of the Volkswagen Jetta is not at all memorable, but it is ergonomically impeccable. However, the Corolla’s ergonomics are fine, it’s just that the “German” has controls and keys located more logically.

And there is more soft plastic in the Volkswagen interior, although visually it is almost invisible.

The geometry of the driving position is generally good for both. However, both cars have one feature - when the seat is lowered to the lowest position, the cushion falls back, which is not convenient for everyone. The range of movement of the seat and steering column is traditionally greater in the “German”.

In addition, the Volkswagen seat back is infinitely adjustable using a “wheel”, and the right front seat offers the same range of movements as the driver’s, including height adjustment. In Toyota, the backrest is adjustable in steps, but the right seat height cannot be adjusted.

The central armrest on the German sedan moves back and forth and up and down, while on the Japanese it is fixed.

The second row of our rivals is very spacious, not only by the standards of the class, but also by the standards of cars of a higher class.

So, if a person with a height of 180 cm sits in front, then behind the knees of a passenger of the same dimensions there is a clearance of a good 15 cm, while about 5-6 cm above the head (this applies to both Volkswagen and Toyota - the measurement results are completely identical). The sofas are also equally comfortable, but in terms of equipment, the second row of the “German” is preferable.

There are deflectors for the ventilation system between the front seats, a comfortable center armrest, and a 12 V socket. The Japanese sedan has neither deflectors nor a socket, and the center armrest is located too low.

In terms of luggage compartment volume, Volkswagen is again the leader. And the compartment is better planned. In addition, when folding out the backrests of the rear sofa, the VW gets an almost flat floor - the step is very small. But at Toyota the step is much higher. Underground, both have full-fledged spare tires.

Hold the blow

Which is better – a CVT or a preselective “robot” with two clutches? Until now, we have preferred the robotic gearbox. But in this test drive, the Japanese sedan with a CVT turned out to be the leader in acceleration control. This is because Volkswagen’s “robot” behaves unsatisfactorily when trying to accelerate sharply from low speeds.

You drive up, for example, to a roundabout or drive out onto the road from the yard, you see a gap between the cars, into which, from all sensations, it is as easy as shelling pears, you press the accelerator pedal, and in response - silence... The pause lasts about two seconds, then the car abruptly takes off, and the time has already been lost... This is how the gearbox protects the clutch.

Moreover, the “sports” mode does not “treat” this.

Nevertheless, you still have to drive exclusively in “sport” mode, because only in this case the car begins to accelerate normally.

In the “standard” mode, the box holds the highest possible gear, and when trying to accelerate, you have to wait until it shifts down. At the same time, there are no complaints about the power unit itself.

On the contrary, due to turbocharging, the engine is noticeably superior in thrust to the naturally aspirated unit of the “Japanese”, and its turbo lag is practically not felt. Everything is ruined by the robotic gearbox.

The acceleration control of the Japanese sedan is much more convenient. The number of times I pressed the gas is the same amount I get. Maximum traction is always available. And the reactions to pressing the accelerator pedal are correct - linear.

It’s just that in “sport” mode it’s a little difficult to drive in traffic jams, since the car responds to the fuel supply too sharply. In general, unlike Volkswagen, the “standard” CVT mode is quite sufficient here.

And there are no strong engine howls typical for this type of transmission.

The Toyota's steering is sharper than its rival's (2.7 turns from lock to lock versus 3.0), and turns noticeably easier in parking modes. And as the speed increases, the steering wheel becomes heavier. During the restyling, the steering, as we have already said, was specially reconfigured to make the zero position better felt, and this is really noticeable.

As a result, it has become more convenient to travel on the highway. But in sharp turns, the force on the steering wheel is still too viscous and not particularly informative. In any case, Toyota cannot compete with Volkswagen in the quality of steering feedback.

The steering wheel of the German sedan is moderately sharp and always extremely informative, and the car responds to control actions faster and steers more accurately.

In general, it’s almost impossible to find fault with the Jetta’s handling. The car holds perfectly on a straight line and easily writes arcs of various curvatures. And there’s nothing special to say – it’s a standard.

As for the Japanese competitor, it behaves perfectly, it just doesn’t have such perfectly adjusted habits as Volkswagen. During the restyling, Toyota received stiffer suspension settings designed to improve handling, and the Corolla actually drove better.

The sedan has become more responsive to steering wheel turns and feels more composed in turns, but, alas, it still falls short of the standard “German”.

But in terms of smoothness, the “Japanese” is preferable. The car collects more road debris than the pre-restyling version, but has stopped swaying on wavy surfaces.

And the energy efficiency of the suspension, which was previously excellent, has become even better: you can rush along broken asphalt in a Corolla without slowing down.

It’s a little harsh, but the chassis absorbs almost any blow without choking.

Compared to the Japanese sedan, the Volkswagen chassis seems slack. Its suspension notices the “pimples” of the asphalt less, but on more or less noticeable irregularities it misses hard shocks, and on a rough road it even comes to breakdowns.

At the same time, the chassis is loud, which aggravates the feeling of discomfort. But the Jetta’s chassis was also adapted for Russian roads. But it seems that all the adaptation consists of spacers that increase ground clearance.

At least, even if the springs and shock absorbers have been modified, the optimal settings for our roads have not yet been achieved.

In short, the Toyota Corolla chassis is clearly preferable for driving on rough roads. And after restyling, the sound insulation of the “Japanese” has clearly improved - even the noise from the tires is not bothersome. But earlier, I remember, in terms of protection from rubber noise, Corolla was far from ideal. However, Volkswagen is still quieter, although the difference is in the nuances.

It was not easy to choose the best one in our test drive. On the one hand, the Toyota Corolla's suspension settings are perfect for Russian roads and the CVT works great.

On the other hand, in terms of other parameters (ergonomics, interior comfort, trunk capacity, handling) the Volkswagen Jetta is in the lead. So we declare a fighting draw.

And the buyer, as always, will choose depending on personal preferences.

The trunk capacity is 510 liters.

Dynamics

The least fast Toyota Corolla is available with a 1.33 engine and the only possible manual transmission with 6 speeds. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes her 12.6 seconds. the maximum speed is 180 km/h.

The fastest Toyota Corolla is equipped with a 1.8 engine, for which one gearbox is also offered, represented by a CVT. Such a car accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds and accelerates to 195 km/h.

Although, the version with a 1.6 liter engine in combination with a manual transmission is close to it in terms of dynamics (10.5 s to 100 km/h) and equal in maximum speed.

The slowest Volkswagen Jetta is represented by a version with a 1.6 TDI engine. It accelerates to 100 km/h, both with automatic and manual transmission, in 11.7 seconds, and the top speed is 190 km/h. The version with a gasoline engine of the same volume is faster in acceleration to 100 km/h by 0.2 s, but has a lower speed of 10 km/h.

The fastest in terms of dynamics is the Volkswagen Jetta with a 2.0 TDI engine. It takes her 6.6 seconds to accelerate. However, it is far from the first in terms of speed.

Significantly ahead of it, namely by 28 km/h, is a car with a gasoline engine of the same displacement, capable of reaching 238 km/h, despite the fact that in acceleration it lags behind its diesel counterpart by 0.9 s.

Fuel consumption

The most economical, from this point of view, Toyota Corolla spends 4.7 liters, 7.2 liters and 5.6 liters per 100 km in suburban, urban and mixed modes. It is presented in a version with a 1.33 engine and manual transmission. The 1.6 engine coupled with a manual transmission consumes the most fuel, namely 5.4 l, 8.7 l, 6.6 l under the same conditions.

The tank volume is 55 l. The manufacturer recommends using AI-95 fuel for the car.

The 1.6 TDI version with manual transmission has the lowest consumption among Volkswagen Jetta modifications. It is 3.9 l, 5.7 l, 4.5 l per 100 km in the suburban, urban and combined cycles, respectively. The least economical car is equipped with a 2.5 liter engine and automatic transmission. It consumes 10 liters in suburban mode and 14.8 liters of fuel in urban conditions.

The fuel tank volume is 54 - 55 liters, depending on the modification. For versions equipped with gasoline engines, the manufacturer recommends refueling with AI-95.

Price

The simplest Corolla is estimated at 680,000 rubles, the cost of the Jetta starts at 629,000 rubles.

Volkswagen Jetta vs Toyota Corolla

Jetta or Corolla: what to choose?

Today, among the popular brands of “C-class” sedans, it is quite difficult to immediately make a definite choice. In most cases, car enthusiasts do not conduct a deep analysis of models, but rather rely on internal feelings and intuition.

It was in this category that many were faced with a difficult and at the same time pleasant choice of what to prefer: the Japanese model Toyota Corolla or the German analogue Volkswagen Jetta.

They are considered the brightest representatives of their brand and personify in all their glory the practicality of the East vs the reliability of the West, although both qualities are suitable for each of them.

If we look at the history of the Volkswagen Jetta model range or the Japanese equivalent of the Toyota Corolla, as well as their demand on the market, then every representative of the “C-Class” has something to show off.

Toyota Corolla has about 50 years of successful representation on the world market, and during this time the number of units produced has exceeded 40 million units. The history of the Volkswagen Jetta began in 1979 and during this time 14 million were produced.

cars of this model range.

Over many years, both brands have undergone numerous modernizations and updates to their representatives of the “premium” class Jetta vs Corolla, as a result of which today they are considered the most popular and prestigious models. We propose to consider the comparative characteristics of each of them.

Design and comfort Jetta vs Corolla

Considering the convenience and comfort of the driver's seat, it is worth saying that the basic settings on the Toyota Corolla are done much better and take no more than 2 minutes.

The seat reclines, the steering wheel in the Corolla car rises to the required height and you can move. For the German colleague Volkswagen Jetta, these manipulations take a little longer than for the Corolla, because...

The lumbar support roller and backrest are adjustable using conventional mechanical drives. Which is better, a Corolla or a Jetta, perhaps the answer is obvious.

The visibility of the Japanese is not satisfactory; the rear-view mirrors are very comfortable and ergonomic. The Volkswagen Jetta cannot please you with good visibility, since its mirrors could be made larger.

But there are no complaints about the forward view and there are completely no “dead zones” here. In addition to a good review, the Toyota Corolla performed well in terms of interior noise insulation, since in a Japanese car there is always peace and quiet.

In the German, the driver will hear the noise of the car’s engine running, which has not even reached the acceleration of 100 km/h.

Engine vs transmission

If you compare the power units of Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta, there is something to be surprised about. Toyota Corolla with a 1.6 liter engine is mainly equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

It is worth noting that it also uses a smaller 1.4 liter engine, but it is less popular, since during sharp maneuvers and overtaking it becomes clear that it is not enough for the Corolla.

Consumption on city roads is only 9 liters per 100 km.

The Volkswagen Jetta has a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 1.4 liter turbo engine. In some trim levels you can see diesel 1.

A 9-liter engine, but, as practice shows, such an engine is far from perfect and often stalls right on the road, especially in cold weather. Fuel consumption averages 12 liters per 100 km.

Both cars support European exhaust standards, so there are no complaints about any of the representatives.

Service vs cost

Comparing the suspension of the Corolla and the Jetta will perhaps be the key point in choosing a car. The driving characteristics are considered better and even ideal on the Japanese Toyota Corolla - the suspension absorbs all unevenness gently, without unnecessary shocks.

The German suspension from Volkswagen developers is simply lame, and the driver can feel any pebble on the road. But in addition to the characteristics, an important factor is the operation of the car and the price of spare parts. Here everyone must calculate for themselves depending on their region of residence.

It is also worth noting that for the Toyota Corolla vs Volkswagen Jetta models there is a single price category and it starts at 730 thousand rubles. for the simplest basic package, without any special options.

Thus, after conducting a full comparative analysis of the two most popular C-class models, Toyota Corolla vs Volkswagen Jetta, we can draw appropriate conclusions about which one is better to give preference.

As a result, it turned out that there are several important indicators that quite accurately make it clear who exactly the Toyota Corolla with its powerful engine is designed for, or for whom the economical and reliable Volkswagen Jetta would be an ideal option.

Therefore, all that remains is to compare and choose.

They haven't installed robots for a long time. I'm looking at the narrow-eyed one on the automatic transmission. God grant that by the end of 2013 you just gave birth. The finishing quality of the Burenka is also not bad, although there is a lot of plastic, everything can be disassembled and easily assembled without consequences. Is 105 not enough for it? I think 122 is optimal.

It’s just interesting that a car with 105 hp costs more than 122 hp. Burenka is not at all capricious for gasoline, I drove 92 for three years a couple of times, only used 95, I didn’t feel much of a difference. But in theory, the consumption will be slightly less at 95, but you can only see this on a long trip.
