Toyota Corolla wipers: tips for selection and installation
Wipers for Toyota Corolla are made of high quality materials. Their form is perfect. The brush adheres well to the glass and cleans it perfectly. This is what contributes to maximum comfort and also makes road driving completely safe.
Windshield wiper manufacturing technologies
Cleaners are manufactured by well-known manufacturers. They are incredibly flexible, perfectly follow the shape of the windshield and efficiently remove all kinds of dirt and water.
It is also worth noting that Toyota Corolla wipers work stably and have a long service life. They are wind resistant. These qualities are important in those moments when the car is moving at maximum speed.
The working bodies of windshield wipers are made of two types of synthetic rubber. The part that is adjacent to the glass is made of hard rubber.
This allows for truly high-quality cleaning. For silent and smooth operation, the upper part must be made of soft material.
The combined material allows you to efficiently remove all dirt, while the load on the power unit is almost minimal.
Today, the latest materials and advanced technologies are being actively introduced. Manufacturers strive to use only materials of European standards and quality. This fact makes the product of the highest quality, and it can be used for a long time.
Cleaner brushes are specially designed for each model. In this case, specific operating conditions must be taken into account. It is important that this element fits as tightly as possible to the glass.
This will allow the wiper to work really well for a long time.
Toyota Corolla wipers perfectly clean the windshield and make virtually no noise during operation.
In the process of creating wipers, manufacturers must take into account the fact that high performance is required in any weather and speed. The size of the windshield wipers is also important, ensuring their stable operation.
Since the wiper blades of the Toyota Corolla are pressed evenly against the glass, they clean it well of various contaminants. As for the aerodynamic characteristics, they are incredibly high. Frameless type blades form less ice, but the wiper functions just fine.
Today there are many modifications of the Toyota Corolla. The length of the wiper blades varies significantly. In order not to make a mistake during installation, you need to clarify the size of wipers that is needed specifically for your car. To do this, you should consult with a specialist.
Main types of wipers for Toyota Corolla
There are several main types:
- Frame. There is a special frame made of metal or plastic with pressure points. A rubber scraper is attached to it.
- Frameless. It consists of three elements: a holder, an elastic band for cleaning, and a pressure plate. A solid metal rod presses the rubber tightly against the windshield. It is placed in the pressure plate inside. The size of the windshield wiper itself does not matter.
- Hybrid. Frame-type wipers with rubber or plastic linings that cover the frame. The brush wears out less and is practically not subject to corrosion.
Frameless wiper
The hybrid type of brushes combines all the best. The cost of such models is quite high, but they will last much longer. The price will pay off with incredible reliability over long-term use.
How to replace wipers and care for them
It is important to use seasonally appropriate brushes. So the options for summer are neater, smaller in size and fully functional. It is also necessary to choose the correct size.
Replacing windshield wiper blades is done as quickly as possible. This can be done with plug-type connectors, which are specially provided in the design. Now this operation does not require time and special adapters.
Although the brushes are made of highly wear-resistant and durable material, they will wear out over time. During operation of the windshield wiper, a lot of friction occurs.
If the windshield washer fluid is supplied with a delay, it intensifies. It is important to replace brushes in a timely manner. Otherwise, scratches and abrasions will appear on the glass. This will cause a decrease in the permeability of glass to light.
An incorrectly selected size can also cause premature wear.
If the entire windshield needs to be replaced, then different wipers are also installed. This will create excellent visibility of the road. The windshield wiper will work effectively.
It is important to purchase a wiper that is not a rigid type with a metal frame. The preferred option is a design with a flexible plastic body and metal rivets.
Our specialists will help you choose the size required for your car model.
For example, often after dry weather, windshield wipers begin to jam. It is necessary to remove the trapezoid and clean all movable mechanisms from accumulated dirt. It is important not to delay this so as not to start it to the point where they stop moving altogether. As a result, the entire trapezoid will need to be replaced, the cost of which is quite high.

The original ones are on sale, but they cost a hefty $85 per set.

I took a Bosch for a long time for the winter, the tires become dull and “squeak” in the cold. When lubricated with alcohol, the squeak goes away, but not for long. Compare with relatives... the latter are of course buzzing, but with heavy snow from the sky they become not “working” at all.
One day, when I was crazy, a wiper broke a passenger's shoe (I was frozen with a stake... I stopped to clean it... I slammed the little one on the shoe, and it cracked in half, plastic) So I drive it in the trunk... I take off the Bosch in the cold, put the tire on! I still can’t find it some kind of pension option.

Are rubber bands for wipers sold separately? Over the winter, two sets were erased, there were Boshevsky ones, Denso ones and all sorts of crap Chinese stuff. They barely survive the season. Now the brushes are being smeared, and they are a month and a half old... capr1corn Messages: 23 Registered: 07 Jan 2013, 21:25 Thanked: 1 time

I just change the rubber bands; the price is about 80 rubles for the cheapest pair. Graphite ones are more expensive, you remove the brushes, cut the rubber bands to the required length and insert them. The first time I suffered for a long time when inserting it, i.e.
because it’s difficult to simultaneously insert steel knitting needles at both ends of the elastic (which provide rigidity to the elastic), then I got the hang of it. For me, this is a good option to save money, at least change it every six months.

I’ve decided for myself that the best brushes and rubber bands are my own. On previous cars, I played enough with frameless expensive ones and not very much. For the winter I took Toyota rubber bands in existential ones - they clean perfectly. Left windshield wiper rubber 85214-68020 - 282.61 rubles.
Right windshield wiper blade 85214-68030 – RUR 157.78

Guys less than 5.5 years old went through their original brushes, changed the rubber bands once, tightened the frame, and now decided to upgrade. The driver's frame is still holding up, but the passenger frame began to “grunt” with an elastic band at the end of the stroke and is difficult to clean.
In principle, the original brushes showed themselves well and were 100% satisfactory, agree, for a period of 5 years. The price tag on them is of course expensive, but chance helped.
In short, I noticed somewhere some information about hybrid brushes, we have exactly this type of brushes, there was a link to DENSO as the world leader in this area, I started “digging” and realized that the original factory ones are the manufacturer NIPPON DENSO.
In their catalog I found our size, their markings, although the catalog itself suggests 60+40 for the Corolla, I ordered it from Autodok, waited two days and received exactly the original set. The price tag if you order according to the DENSO marking is two times cheaper, the kit cost 1030 rubles. So, who needs the catalog number:
– DU-065L – driver brush code 650mm
– DU-035L – passenger brush code 350mm
– original manufacturer codes with dimensions,
– the latch is exactly ours,
– the factory dot marking of the packaging is evidence of quality,
– the Korean division of NIPPON DENSO, focused on Russia as well. The only thing that surprised me was that the packaging for the passenger wiper was made in Japan, and the driver's wiper was made in Korea, although the supplier chose one when ordering. Now we'll watch. By the way, who is interested in DU - this is the marking of hybrid brushes with a clamp like ours, then the length is in cm and L - left-hand drive.********************************** **********************
I haven’t driven it in yet, it’s a shame in winter.

How to properly care for car wipers
Car wipers are an integral part of every vehicle.
It is windshield wipers that help the driver see the road during bad weather; this greatly affects the safety of movement and protects all passengers from accidents.
Many car enthusiasts have accumulated a number of questions about this integral element of the car, and then we will talk about this in more detail...
History of invention
The invention of the electric drive for windshield wipers, surprisingly, belongs to a woman - Charlotte Bridgewood.
It was she and her children who became the founders of the Bridgewood company, the first company to produce car windshield wipers.
A patent for this invention was issued back in 1917, but the invention was not popular because people simply did not believe in this idea.
Varieties
At the moment, windshield wipers are divided into 3 types:
- frame;
- frameless;
- hybrid.
Frame wipers are the most popular type of all. It is characterized by complete adherence of the windshield wipers to the windshield of the car due to rocker arms and a hinge device.
Initially, domestically produced cars used metal hinges. But this type of windshield wipers did not show very good results.
As a result, during the changing seasons, especially with sudden changes in temperature, the metal hinges quickly began to rust. And the accumulation of moisture on the glass accelerated these processes even more.
Therefore, soon the windshield wiper became ugly in appearance, and later the brushes could no longer cope with their job.
And this is not the only drawback of metal frame windshield wipers. They also wear out in very short periods of time. So tests of these brushes have shown that their effectiveness is quite low.
But metal is practically no longer found in them; all manufacturers began to use more convenient and cheaper plastic for the frame. This significantly extended performance. Nowadays, almost all windshield wipers are made of plastic.
Frame structures of cars are very convenient for both manufacturers and consumers, this significantly reduces the cost.
Another type of windshield wipers is frameless . They are much newer than the previous ones. From the name it is already clear that these wipers do not have a frame. The basis of this design is a special metal spring, covered on top with a rubber cover that protects it from damage.
Bending in the structure is achieved through a special plastic fastening. From different manufacturers, springs can be replaced with special metal strips. These strips fix the brushes, and the latter come into contact with the windshield due to bending. Because of this, the fit is tight.
Frameless car windshield wipers also have several plugs and a special fixation bracket. These wipers are more popular than the previous ones due to the fact that any of their parts can be easily replaced with a new one several times.
Windshield wipers are also rated based on aerodynamicity. And according to this, frameless wipers outperform frame ones. In addition, the materials from which these models are made better withstand various weather conditions.
But, in terms of versatility, frameless windshield wipers are not at the forefront. Due to the fact that frameless wipers have a bend in their design, they are not suitable for every car, but, on the contrary, only for a narrow range of models.
The last type of windshield wipers is hybrid . Of all the types considered, this one is the most universal. It combines all the advantages of both frame and frameless wipers.
But in terms of cost, hybrids are the most expensive, unlike simple frame ones. In operation they showed the best results. So, if you choose from all types, then hybrid ones are the best option.
Operating rules
There are several rules to extend the life of windshield wipers:
- glass cleanliness;
- cleanliness of wipers;
- absence of ice and snow on the glass.
The main rule when using windshield wipers is that if they stop performing their function, they need to be replaced! If the wipers work poorly, the glass is not cleared of dust and dirt, and this significantly reduces visibility and increases the likelihood of an accident or accident.
But some windshield wipers lose their working shape too quickly. Many drivers are wondering how to revive car wipers? Many parts in them can be easily replaced, but this does not increase their service life.
It is worth remembering that this depends not only on the type of windshield wipers, but also on the car, its brand, the time of year and the quality of the wipers.
You can improve their performance and even update some details. But, if you do not follow certain rules when using windshield wipers, then even the best of them will not last very long. There are several simple ways to extend the life of your wipers.
Regular care
The windshield should always be clean. Thanks to the cleanliness of the working surface, the wipers on your car will work several times longer .
Due to constant dirt and debris on the windshield, the blades will quickly become unusable. And even when it’s raining outside, the glass should remain clean.
Rain cannot wash away all the dirt; on the contrary, sometimes it only increases it, and the spray nozzles can become clogged. Clean your car window before every trip.
But even in dry weather, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the brushes, because their service life is already short.
And even if it’s sunny outside and the weather forecast doesn’t say rain, the glass still needs to be cleaned of dust, etc.
Due to the fact that the glass cleaning system may accidentally turn on , the rubber bands on the brushes may be damaged. And in dry weather and dirt on the glass, the rubber bands easily become unusable.
So, if during a trip the windshield washers and brushes no longer cope with their job, then it is better to stop and clean the windshield . It is best to use a special liquid for car glass for these purposes. With its help, you can quickly and accurately remove dirt without scratching the glass.
It is also useful to read: Features of hybrid wiper blades
Always keep ice off your windshield . When using wipers, you need to monitor not only cleanliness.
The durability of windshield wipers also depends on the condition of the glass. For example, in winter, when ice forms, it is not recommended to use wipers. In the winter season, the windows, as a rule, remain clean, but the ice does not disappear from them.
Many drivers try to remove snow with wipers, but this is wrong. They easily become unusable due to such attempts to make the glass cleaner. Even once will be enough to ruin the condition of the cleaning mechanism.
The best way out of the situation is to clean the glass manually. And if you are too lazy to clean the ice every morning, then after the end of the trip you just need to wipe the glass from the condensation formed after the snow melts. This way, less ice will form and the windshield wipers will work several times longer.
It is necessary to clean not only the glass, but also the wipers themselves. Many drivers forget that they also need cleaning, and regular cleaning. With constant work, plaque begins to accumulate on the surface.
Because of this, over time, the wipers no longer fit so tightly to the surface, and the rubber bands also gradually wear out. When cleaning glass with dirty windshield wipers, increased friction occurs on the surface being cleaned.
This way both glass and rubber bands deteriorate.
How to clean
There is a fairly easy way to clean them from dirt. To do this, you need to take a clean cloth or rag, but wet wipes and paper towels will also work. Next, the material needs to be moistened in water or windshield wiper fluid. Afterwards, carefully clean the brushes and rubber bands from dirt.
During this procedure you need to be as careful as possible, since any sudden movement can damage the elastic bands. You can tell if the wipers are now clean: the minimum amount of dirt remains when the rag moves as easily as possible over the surface.
Also, the rag or towel should turn black, which means that all dirt has been removed from the wipers.
But that doesn't mean you have to rub your windshield wipers until the rag is perfectly white. This will never happen, since in some cases the brushes themselves can leave marks on the rag. And if you wipe the wipers too thoroughly, you can damage the rubber bands.
If you follow all the above rules, your car's windshield wipers will last several times longer than with normal use.

If the windshield wipers no longer cope with their duties
If you can clear the glass for sufficient visibility only with the third or fourth stroke, and the area where the brushes work on the clean glass becomes visible, it’s time to change them.
How often should wipers be changed?
It is difficult to give a definite answer to the question of how often to change wipers. Brushes are a consumable item that ensures the proper operation of a vehicle, just like engine and transmission oils or filters. And, like any consumable material, they have a limited resource.
Some sources recommend replacing twice a year. Some once every two years. But most car enthusiasts prefer to change wipers only if their work is clearly unproductive.
Car windshield wipers - commonly known as wipers
Many factors influence the service life of windshield wipers:
As a result of such influences, the rubber of the brushes “tans”, and its adherence to the glass decreases. The fit to the glass largely depends on the condition of the frame wiper hinges, if this particular type of windshield wiper is installed.
Types of wipers
Variety of car windshield wipers
Before changing the wipers on your car, you should determine which wipers are right for you. The range of these consumables is quite rich. The market offers framed, frameless and hybrid models from different brands. There is no clear division of brushes into “bad” and “good”.
Each type of wiper includes positive and negative qualities.
Frameless and combined ones are superior to their framed counterparts in terms of durability, due to the absence of an open frame, which can rust, suffer from salt deposits, etc.
Frame wipers, in turn, have an attractive price and, thanks to the rocker arm system, better bend around the windshield.
In any case, the applicability of the product on a particular car and the quality of its manufacture play a decisive role. When purchasing brushes, you must follow the recommendations of the car manufacturer. Most of them provide not only the parameters of the applicable wipers, but also specific brands indicating the catalog number.
Many manufacturers of spare parts and consumables indicate on their products the models and brands of cars to which these parts are applicable.
But how to change wipers if these options are not suitable? All that remains is to select brushes similar to those installed, provided that you are satisfied with the quality of their work.
It is necessary to take measurements of both wipers. This is important, since the size of the brushes for most cars is individual. And on some, the driver's wiper is larger than the passenger's.
It should immediately be noted that the questions “how to change frame wipers” and “how to change frameless wipers” are untenable. If the shape of your car windshield is not complex, you will find suitable options for both types. The question is rather in the correct choice of fastenings of the brushes to the windshield wiper arms.
It is very important to accurately determine the type of brush attachment. This is not easy, so the best solution would be to carefully remove the blades, place a thick cloth under the wiper arms, thereby protecting the windshield from contact with metal, and go with them for new ones.
Removing old wipers
Most modern cars use a hook type mount. Its installation and dismantling is quite simple.
It is very important to prevent the lever from hitting the glass under the action of the pressure spring! Therefore, the operation must be performed with caution. It is also advisable to protect the windshield with a thick blanket.
If your car has a different type of mount, you will have to use your ingenuity. Some manufacturers have equipped cars with clever fastenings such as Side pin, Pinch tab, Top lock, Push button.
But dealing with them is not difficult, using reasonable caution.
Often, a set of new brushes comes with instructions for removal and installation. This will also help you figure out how to change the blades on wipers with non-standard mounting.
Installing new wipers
Replacing car windshield wiper blades is an easy task
Installing new windshield wipers is the reverse process of removing them and should not be a problem. The only exception can be the use of universal adapters. These can often be found in brush sets from well-known brands. Their use allows the use of more modern brushes on cars of previous generations.
It is very important not to overdo it. If you feel that you do not understand how to change the wipers on your car or something does not work, contact a service station. They will help you without breaking anything. And you can study all the replacement operations and return to them next time.
If everything worked out well and you changed the front wipers, then you can easily figure out how to change the rear wiper.
Tips for use
Replacing the rear window wiper blade
I would like to highlight tips for using brushes as a separate item.
It is necessary to control what liquids and substances they come into contact with. Road chemicals, questionable washer fluids and solvents reduce the service life of rubber bands.
Prolonged exposure to the scorching sun and severe frost accelerates their aging and destruction. Operation in such conditions can cause premature wear of the rubber bands, even on new windshield wipers. This, in turn, entails a number of concerns about how to change the rubber bands on the wipers, if they are still new and expensive.

How to properly care for wipers
Every car owner knows that there are no small things in a car. This is why it is so important to take care of your car so that it lasts as long as possible. However, not everyone knows that it is very important to take care of your car's wipers, because if they malfunction, visibility will noticeably deteriorate. What types of car wipers are there and how to care for them?
What types of car wipers are there?
Car wipers can be divided into 3 types:
- Frame;
- Frameless;
- Hybrid.
Frame type is a common type of windshield wiper, where the cleaning tape is attached through several rocker arms. Plus - low cost, simplicity and sophisticated design. Cons – deterioration in windshield cleaning at high speed due to poor aerodynamics of the brushes; there are no elements for pressing against the windshield; The resource of these products is low.
They have been replaced by frameless brushes that do a better job of cleaning a car's windshield at high speed.
Car enthusiasts love them for their beautiful appearance, but they have other advantages, such as: low aerodynamic resistance and low weight, which is why they put less load on the car’s windshield wiper drive. Their disadvantage is their higher cost.
Another type of brushes - hybrid - are similar in design to conventional frame wipers, but in a closed, streamlined body. Therefore, the aerodynamics are better than conventional frame models, although the base is the same. There is only one drawback - a higher price.
There are also winter brushes, which are a type of frame wipers, where all the working elements are hidden inside a cover made of a thin rubber tube, thanks to which they are better protected from freezing than others. Recommended for use in winter.
It is better to purchase wipers in specialized stores. And it doesn’t matter which manufacturers you trust, foreign or domestic, the main thing is that they are proven.
By the way, you can find silicone rubber bands that have proven themselves to be the best. They do not last longer than usual, but they do the job efficiently. Also, in addition to purchasing wipers, it is advisable to purchase an anti-rain product for the windshield. Then the brushes will work less often and last longer.
There is one solution that does not require costs - this is the correct operation of windshield wipers. Even high-quality and expensive wipers can quickly fail, because this element is capricious and delicate.
For example, you can damage the brush by forcing it to remove ice or work on dry glass. Sand and ice are bad companions for wipers.
Use wipers only on wet glass, do not force them to work “dry”.
To change wipers less often, you need to wash them more often and periodically degrease them. All kinds of solvents are not suitable for these purposes - they will only do harm.
For these purposes, silicone grease is used, the use of which will come in handy with the arrival of frost. Ice quickly binds the wiper blades, which remove moisture from the warm glass.
It’s not difficult to cope with this problem: just before installing the brush, carefully inject a silicone fairy tale under the case. It will displace moisture and prevent them from freezing.
Sometimes in the markets, car owners are offered to purchase a chemical gum modifier, assuring that it restores youth to well-worn brushes. True, no one says that “valiant prowess” descends on rubber bands treated with this chemical for just a couple of days. After this period, the wipers begin to work worse than before.
If the rubber band on the windshield wiper breaks, you don’t want to spend money on a whole windshield wiper. Manufacturers assure that replacing rubber bands alone will not help the matter. However, it will be quite enough, but such a wiper will not work perfectly, like a branded one. But it will clean the glass decently. In addition, it is not necessary to buy foreign rubber bands; domestic ones will do.
If the glass is heavily scratched, visibility will be poor, even if the blades are brand new. Therefore, many car enthusiasts polish their windshield to improve visibility. It also has a beneficial effect on the work of the wipers, because... on clean glass they work faster and wear out less.

Wipers for the winter: which ones to choose and how to care for them
Winter for motorists means not only snow and ice under the wheels, but also “cold” precipitation that you have to deal with on the windshield. Autonews.ua recalls the rules for choosing wipers and tells tips on how to properly care for them. Auto expert Igor Filippov will help us with this.
Wipers - which type to choose
There are three types of windshield wipers:
- frame (mainly found on older generation cars)
- frame in a case
- frameless
“Frameless ones are considered the most practical and durable. In winter, they do not hold back the snow that slides off the glass. It is also undesirable to use frame ones in winter because snow gets clogged between the membranes and the frame, turns into snow, and then the wipers do not work as they should. Hence, I recommend using frameless windshield wipers.
I do not divide by seasons for which windshield wipers are intended. There is no concept of “winter brushes” or “summer brushes”. All brushes are designed for year-round use. If a person uses them carefully, their service life is one year. It’s worth changing brushes in the off-season, at the end of summer, using them for a whole year, and buying new ones by next fall,” says autonews.

How to care for wipers
Some drivers raise their windshield wiper holders up in winter to prevent them from freezing to the car. But you can’t do that. The spring is stretched and then pressed poorly. Experts advise placing two matchboxes (or something similar) between the glass and the holder so that the brush does not adhere to the glass.
In the morning, it is advisable to “massage” the brushes. “In the morning I brush the snow off the car and see if the brushes are frozen. If it’s frozen, then while the car is warming up, I turn on hot air on the glass and warm up the blades.
As soon as I can painlessly separate the rubber from the glass, I immediately warm them with my hands so that they become elastic.
You can also spray a defroster (anti-ice) on the glass - it quickly removes ice,” advises Igor Filippov.
Also, do not bend the windshield wiper holders. Some drivers think that the windshield wiper does not rub well because the spring is supposedly weakened, and therefore they take the holder and bend it.
How to tell if your windshield wiper is worn out
There are two ways to do this. The first is to look at the indicator, the second is to look at the condition of the graphite coating.
“The snow blowers have a graphite coating. In good light, it can be seen on the elastic band as gray pollen. Graphite prevents the brush from squeaking on the glass. It also does not collect sand underneath it.
When the graphite is worn away, sand gets under the rubber band and scratches the glass. Consequently, if the brush is worn out, then from the interior we can hear it squeaking on the glass.
Then we look and if there is no graphite coating, the brush is thrown away.
