According to the Federal Law of December 10, 1995 No. 196 - Federal Law “On Road Safety”, mandatory medical examination is provided for citizens wishing to obtain a driver’s license and persons already having vehicles.

Without passing a medical examination, it is impossible to learn the practical part of driving at a driving school and subsequently obtain a driver's license.

A medical certificate is also necessary to obtain a vehicle inspection ticket and can be useful if you have to restore or renew a driver’s license and other documents at the traffic police.

A medical examination for a driving school is carried out in order to identify any medical contraindications in driver applicants for which they cannot drive a vehicle.

If the health condition of the subject is satisfactory and no restrictions on driving a vehicle are identified, then the future driver is issued a medical certificate confirming his mental and physical health.

A medical examination can usually take several hours. Upon completion, a medical certificate for drivers of the accepted form (f. 083/u-10) is issued, which indicates the permissible categories of vehicles, as well as the conditions for permission to drive them.

The document is valid for 1-2 years (the frequency is established in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia No. 302n dated April 12, 2011). Once you have received a medical certificate with permission to drive category “B” vehicles, you can begin practical training at a driving school.

The original document will need to be given to the driving school, where it will be kept in your personal file until the end of the driving course.

Required documents for the medical examination

A medical examination to obtain a certificate can be taken at any licensed medical institution, both public and private.

When undergoing a medical examination, have with you:

Passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation;
Two matte photographs in 3x4 format;
For persons liable for military service: military ID or registration certificate.

Persons with poor vision should bring glasses or contact lenses to their appointment.

Which doctors should you see?

Inspection by the following specialists is required:

Otolaryngologist (ENT);
Therapist;
Oculist;
Neuropathologist;
Surgeon.

After going to the clinic (private or public) and receiving a blue certificate about the applicant’s fitness to drive, you should direct your steps in the following directions - to a mental health clinic and a drug treatment center.

At the drug dispensary they will test you for the level of narcotic substances in your blood and ask you a couple of questions about your lifestyle: what do you take and do you take it at all? After which the doctor will sign and stamp it.

At the mental hospital, those liable for military service will be required to provide a certificate from the military registration and enlistment office and only then will they be stamped and signed.

After going through all the authorities, you should have this certificate in your hands, naturally filled out.

Medical certificate for a driving school: other nuances

Keep in mind that any driving school strongly recommends passing a medical examination within the first two weeks of training.

Although the maximum limits for passing the medical examination are not established, you should remember that the later you submit your certificate and photo (for internal documents) to the driving school, the later you will be assigned an instructor;
Medical examinations in driving schools should be carried out weekly. The cost of a medical examination and obtaining a medical certificate costs about 700 rubles.

If you doubt the state of your health and are afraid that you will not pass the medical examination, then take care of this in advance.

Pass a medical examination before enrolling in a driving school;
If you are planning to undergo a medical examination before studying at a driving school, then you can get all the necessary information at the help desk of the medical institution where you will be examined;
If you have health problems, but they do not limit your right to drive a vehicle, you will receive a certificate. A more specific assessment of a person’s suitability to drive can only be given by expert opinions;
If you are pregnant, you will be given a certificate with a limitation for the duration of your pregnancy;
If you have a disability, you can enroll in courses at a driving school that teaches driving to people with disabilities. At the same time, you will also need to undergo a medical examination, during which, if it turns out that the disease associated with obtaining a disability is not compatible with driving a car, then you will not be able to pass your license.

Thus, taking into account all the above factors, you will successfully pass the medical examination and will be able to study at a driving school and obtain a driver’s license without any problems.
