“In the first lines” of this material, we will, of course, mention the 1.33 liter engine, which together with a manual transmission makes up the “Standard” package for 659,000 rubles. But we won’t return to this version of the Corolla again: 99 horsepower may be economical, but it’s too little, and plugs instead of buttons throughout the cabin are downright sad.

Marketers are confident that the most popular will be the 1.6 liter engine with 122 hp. Moreover, you can choose a pair for it - manual or variator. For the first combination, the “Classic” (699,000 rubles), “Classic Plus” (754,000) and “Comfort” (781,000) versions are available.
But we will go further and make a bold but obvious statement: the largest number of sales will come from the “1.6 liter with CVT” pair. And not only because the popularity of “mechanics” is clearly on the wane - the Corolla has many more trim levels in this version: six.

If you don’t like the plugs, you’ll have to cut out the “Classic” package (743,000 rubles) and start getting acquainted with the “Classic Plus” (791,000), where instead of a frankly scary plastic panel, an audio system finally appears.
And by throwing another 28 thousand, you can get fog lights, a three-spoke leather steering wheel with music control buttons, six speakers and several more options.
By the way, starting from the “Comfort” version, the central armrest is sliding, but I would call this a redundant option: the one in the standard version is quite comfortable.

As you can see, it’s a very nice offer in terms of the combination of options and price. Especially when you consider that the next version, “Comfort Plus,” is 24 thousand more expensive, and there are much fewer changes in it: the wheels will become alloy and a rear view camera with markings will be added. “Elegance” and “Prestige”, of course, please with their equipment, but are puzzling with their price: 875,000 and 938,000 rubles, respectively.

The 1.8 liter engine is praised by everyone. Frisky and not particularly voracious: fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 6.4 liters per hundred, which is only 0.1 liters more than the Corolla with a 1.6-liter engine.
However, the cheapest configuration with this unit (“Comfort Plus”) is 37,000 rubles more expensive than the weaker version. Do not be fooled by the S nameplate, which appears starting from the Elegance version on cars with a 1.8-liter engine.
For other brands, S traditionally means improved dynamic performance, but for Corolla it means only moldings and a trunk spoiler.
The most “stuffed” version of “Prestige” is also the smartest, as it is equipped with a bunch of electronic systems. However, the price tag for it is close to the million mark, or more precisely, 933,000 rubles. In general, not for everyone. To summarize, we consider the “Comfort” version to be optimal for 819,000 rubles: with a 1.6 liter engine and a CVT.
Additional payment for mother-of-pearl or metallic is 14,000 rubles. In our opinion, it’s a little expensive, it’s not a sin to give up a couple of thousand.

The fact that it’s still 2013 should not confuse anyone, it’s just that automakers have their own methodology for naming new cars, and therefore the next model year begins much earlier than the calendar year.
The appearance of the European version of the new Toyota Corolla, according to most auto designers, is much more attractive than the American version. The fact is that for Europe the Japanese saved more stylish lights, bumpers with a different geometry and relief, as well as a completely different large radiator grille.
According to Japanese designers, the new look of the Toyota Corolla is more sporty and this, again, is much more noticeable in the European version of the sedan. In addition, the version for Europe is more youthful than the North American one, having overly brutal features of the front part and simplicity of the stern.
As for the dimensions, the new product has become slightly larger than its predecessor – the 10th generation Toyota Corolla. The body length of the European version is 4620 mm (for the American version it is 4639 mm).
The width has increased to 1,775 mm (1,776 mm) and the height is now 1,455 mm in both versions. The “American” and the “European” have the same wheelbase, which has added 100 mm.

It will be difficult to call the new Corolla dynamic - even with the most powerful engine, the new sedan will reach the first “hundred” in only 10.2 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 195 km/h, while the smallest engine will accelerate this car to 100 km/h in a long 12.6 seconds , and the maximum speed will be at around 180 km/h.
But the new Toyota Corolla promises to be very economical - only 5.6 liters of gasoline per 100 km in the “mixed cycle”, the top engine “promises” to consume about 6.4 liters in the same mode.
Toyota sedan has been almost completely redesigned, and according to some sources, it was created completely from scratch. The basis was taken from similar elements of the Toyota Auris, which underwent deep modernization and reconfiguration. The architecture of the front suspension has changed quite significantly, but the manufacturer has not yet provided any clear specifics.
The same applies to the rear suspension, where the updates are not so global, but noticeable. In general, the Japanese promise a much smoother ride, a significant improvement in stability when cornering sharply and better resistance to body roll.
It is difficult to guess how true the promises of Toyota engineers will be, so we will have to wait a little while assessing the quality of the new chassis.
