By the way, the absence of this gearbox support on a 16kL engine significantly increases the rattling of the gearbox lever.
Replacing the front lower engine mount of a VAZ 2112
- Remove the engine splash guard. We unscrew the bolt securing the front support rod to the front suspension cross member (with a 15mm wrench).
- We unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the rod to the front support bracket (with two 15mm wrenches), remove the bolt.
- We remove the support. Installing the front support is not difficult if the remaining supports of the motor unit are secured in place. You only need to rock the engine slightly to align the holes.
This airbag is not installed on VAZ 2110 engines.
Replacing the front upper engine mount of a VAZ 2112

16 valve engine
The VAZ with a 16-valve engine has a slightly different device. First, you need to replace the front lower airbag, then the upper front airbag.
Additional support
In order to reduce engine movement in the longitudinal direction, an additional support (suspension rod) can be installed. They are mainly purchased in online stores. An additional support is installed on all types of VAZ 2110, but it has its own characteristics.
For an 8-valve model, you also need a special bracket that is used to carry the ignition module. Having prepared the workplace, we determine the condition of the supports. Next, using jacks, raise the engine in the right place, loosening the bolts.
Replacing the right pillow
Raise the right side with a jack. Loosen the pillow fastening nut. Next are two bolts holding the pillow to the bracket. Remove the three bolts that secure the bracket to the side member. Having released the bracket, unscrew the fastening nut completely and replace the cushion with a new one. Reassemble in reverse order.
Replacing the left pillow
Place the jack either under the transmission or just to the left. We tighten the nut securing the pillow to the engine. Then remove the top stop. Unscrew the pillow mounting bolts. We are replacing it with a new product.
Installing the rear cushion
We make the replacement according to the following algorithm:
– unscrew the two fastening nuts;
– Unscrew the mounting bolts from the gearbox;
– disconnect the bracket;
– we replace it with a new pillow.
Replacing the front airbag
Actually, replacing the front airbag is done in the same way as the rear one. We remove the mudguard. Unscrew the bolt securing the front support rod. Disconnect the bracket from the rod. We replace the part with a new one.
Little tips
When disassembling, place the unscrewed bolts in a specially prepared box or plastic bags so as not to lose the fasteners. Before screwing in, apply a little silicone to the threads. This will help the bolt to screw in easily now, sit firmly in the thread and be easily unscrewed during the next repair.
