Repair manual for Toyota Corolla 1992-1998. Full description, diagrams, photos, technical specifications

General information about the car.

The first Toyota Corolla car was released back in 1966. It had rear-wheel drive and a longitudinal engine.

This arrangement remained until 1984, when the first Corolla with front-wheel drive was released. From 1966 to 1997 This largely explained the fact that Toyota Corolla repairs were a frequent occurrence.

Early car users were faced with the problem of frequent repairs, which caused extreme dissatisfaction.

The Corolla was produced in five body styles - sedan, three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, liftback and station wagon. Released in 1984, the fifth generation of Corolla retained rear-wheel drive for the three-door hatchback “GT coupe” and for the station wagon, while the remaining modifications acquired front-wheel drive.

The sixth generation of Toyota Corolla, already completely front-wheel drive, debuted in 1987 in the EE90 body. From 1987 to 1992 The Corolla was produced with four versions of gasoline engines - injection and carburetor 1.3 and 1.6. At the end of the eighties, the first batch of new carburetor sedans in the 90th body was sold to Russia.

Excellent build quality and high body corrosion resistance have made this model popular in the secondary market of our country for many years. The seventh generation Corolla was produced between 1992 and 1997. The car has become several centimeters longer than its predecessor, and even in the back seat of the liftback passengers have more space.

The debut of the 8th generation Corolla took place in May 1997. The new generation with index 110 was produced in several body styles - 3- and 5-door hatchback, sedan, station wagon, and a charged version of the hatchback - Corolla G8. This generation of Corolla was so popular with buyers that in 1997 it earned the title “Car of the Year” in Europe.

The new generation inherited from its predecessor a power body frame, which acquired fundamentally new body panels. Thanks to the new oval, slightly convex headlights and trapezoidal mesh grille, the 110th Corolla for the first time ceased to be faceless and began to stand out among its classmates.

The European version was equipped with petrol carburetor and injection engines 1.4 86 and 88 hp, injection 1.6 with a power of 110 hp, as well as a diesel engine with a volume of 2.0 liters. And with a power of 72 hp. The all-wheel drive version for the Asian market was equipped with a 1.8 injection engine with a power of 110 hp.

In this generation, the Corolla in the liftback body began to be produced for the first time at the British Toyota TMMUK plant.

Today, Toyota Corolla repair has become much easier. Often, to return their car to service, owners resort to the services of specialists, although anyone can do it with their own hands. Repair manuals are used for this. Our website contains a complete repair manual for Toyota Corolla with the ability to download or view online.

Braking system with front ventilated discs and rear non-bekotid discs. Instructions for using brakes.

Until a year ago, the car was produced in the following configurations: The updated Toyota Corolla car has been supplied in four main configurations since the year: The basic package includes adjustable steering column for tilt and reach, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, folding rear row of seats in proportion to comfortable seating during the trip. The air temperature in the cabin is maintained by air conditioning or dual-zone climate control, depending on the configuration.

The windows of all doors can be equipped with electric drives.

All engines are equipped with an ignition system with individual ignition coils DIS, intelligent electronic variable valve timing systems VVT-i and throttle control ETCS-i.

These systems improve the power and dynamic characteristics of the engine, its fuel efficiency and reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases.

All engines have overhead camshafts, two five support camshafts, with four valves per cylinder. The camshafts are driven into rotation by a roller chain, the tension of which is carried out by a hydraulic tensioner. The functional purpose of the fuel supply system is to ensure the supply of the required amount of fuel to the engine in all operating modes.

The engine is equipped with an electronic control system with distributed fuel injection.

In the distributed fuel injection system, the functions of mixture formation and dosing of the air-fuel mixture into the engine cylinders are separated: This control method makes it possible to ensure the optimal composition of the combustible mixture at each specific moment of engine operation, which allows obtaining maximum power with the lowest possible fuel consumption and low toxicity of exhaust gases.

The fuel injection system and ignition system are controlled by an electronic engine control unit, which continuously monitors, using appropriate sensors, the engine load, vehicle speed, the thermal state of the engine, and the optimal combustion process in the cylinders. A special feature of the Toyota Corolla injection system is that the injectors operate synchronously in accordance with the valve timing; the engine control unit receives information from phase sensors.

The controller turns on the injectors sequentially, and not in pairs, as in asynchronous injection systems. However, in starting modes and dynamic engine operating modes, an asynchronous fuel supply method is used without synchronization with the rotation of the crankshaft.

The main sensor for ensuring an optimal combustion process is the oxygen concentration sensor in the exhaust gases - the lambda probe.

It is installed in the engine exhaust manifold and, together with the electronic unit and injectors, forms a circuit for adjusting the composition of the air-fuel mixture supplied to the engine.

Based on sensor signals, the engine control unit determines the amount of unburned oxygen in the exhaust gases and accordingly evaluates the optimal composition of the air-fuel mixture entering the engine cylinders at each time.

Having detected a deviation of the composition from the optimal 1: As a result, the control loop for the composition of the air-fuel mixture is closed. The car is equipped with two oxygen concentration sensors: The first control sensor, based on its signal, the ECU adjusts the fuel supply, and the second - diagnostic, based on its signal, the ECU evaluates the efficiency of the catalytic converter.

The fuel tank is made of polymer material, installed under the floor of the body in its rear part and secured with four bolts.

To prevent fuel vapor from entering the atmosphere, the tank is connected by a pipeline to the fuel vapor system canister.

A fuel module is installed in the flange hole in the upper part of the tank, which includes a fuel filter, adsorber, pump and pressure regulator. On the left side of the tank there are pipes for connecting the filling pipe and the ventilation hose.

From the fuel module, fuel is supplied to a fuel rail mounted on the engine intake pipe. Also, you will gain basic knowledge about the operation of the Toyota Auris engine, suspension and body parts, and you will be able to independently understand the Toyota Auris 2008 operating manual and the electrical equipment of the car.

Description of the car

The first Toyota Corolla, then still with a longitudinal engine and rear axle drive, was presented to the public in 1966. The model turned out to be so successful that it became a sales record holder in its class - the total number of cars sold was about 10 million units.

Since then, more than one generation of Corolla has changed on the European market, actively winning fans and increasing the popularity of the Toyota brand. Each generation of Toyota Corolla has played a major role in the company's activities in terms of sales volumes. Currently, almost every fifth Toyota car produced is a Corolla.

In terms of Corolla sales, the European market is in third place after Japan and North America; this market accounts for 20% of the global production of this car. About a million Corolla cars are produced annually. In the fall of 2001, the premiere of the next, ninth, generation of the famous Corolla model, a compact class C car, took place in Frankfurt.

The model had an almost revolutionary design: a high sloping hood, a large slope of the A-pillars, large triangular headlights extending onto the hood, and perfectly round wheel arches. Elegant stamping on the hood, focusing attention on the enlarged emblem and radiator grille, is a characteristic feature of all Corolla modifications.

Toyota Corolla The new generation was represented by five different bodies: three- and five-door hatchbacks were assembled in England, a four-door sedan was assembled in Turkey, a five-door station wagon and a Corolla Verso minivan were assembled in Japan. The wheelbase of all models increased, compared to the previous generation, by 135 mm (2600 mm).

The length of three- and five-door hatchbacks became the same - 4180 mm, and capacity increased noticeably both due to an increase in overall width by 20 mm (up to 1710 mm) and due to an increase in body height from 1390 to 1475 mm. The sedan and station wagon bodies became slightly longer, and their overall height increased to 1470 and 1500 mm, respectively.

The Corolla Verso with a transformed interior can boast an even higher body (1610 mm). The interior has become cozier and more comfortable. New fabric was used to decorate the interior, made in black and gray tones. The red illuminated instrument cluster is equipped with Optitron.

Having turned on the ignition, the driver sees the instrument needles “lighting up”, and then simultaneously the tachometer, speedometer, fuel level indicators and parking brake indicator. The dark anti-reflective background provides devices with the Optitron system with excellent readability in any lighting conditions. The ergonomics of the cabin are excellent - all controls are located at hand and are very convenient.

The Corolla is available in three different trim levels: CE, LE and the new sporty S. All models are equipped with transversely mounted power units with engines producing 90,192 hp. Gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters are only 4-cylinder 16-valve engines with a variable valve timing system WT-i (Variable Valve Tinning - intelligent) with a power of 97,110,135 and 192 hp.

The latest 1.8-liter engine for the Corolla T-Sport model is equipped with a WTL-i system with the ability to change valve lift. In addition, there is a 2.0-liter 16-valve D-4D diesel engine with direct fuel injection and a Common Rail fuel supply system in power options of 90 and 110 hp. The base power unit for all models (except Verso) is 1.

4-liter engine with 90 hp. More powerful versions are equipped with a 1.6-liter engine producing 110 hp. Corolla Verso is equipped with 1.6- and 1.8-liter “fours” with a capacity of 110 and 135 hp. The model is equipped with an independent MacPherson front suspension with anti-roll bar. The rear suspension is torsion bar.

The suspension turned out to be a bit harsh - on potholes the body trembles and shakes. It shakes especially on large potholes at low speeds. However, at high speed the car does not sway and swallows quite large potholes without problems. Another useful point is the high ground clearance for a golf class - 17 cm. This is a couple of centimeters higher than most of Corolla's classmates.

Therefore, on gravel, on the lawn or, say, on a road with chipped asphalt, it feels confident. The perfect quality of all the characteristics of the new Corolla is reflected in a wide range of safety equipment.

During any, even the most severe braking, you will maintain control over the car thanks to the ABS anti-lock braking system, which distributes the braking force between all four wheels, providing each of them with maximum traction. The VSC system automatically straightens the trajectory in the event of a skid.

It redistributes engine torque, bringing the car out of slipping and helping to stabilize the trajectory. The entire range of engines is complemented by Brake Assist systems for emergency braking and traction control TRC. Increased safety in collisions: front and rear deformable zones, reinforced pillars and side protective bars protect the driver and passengers in the event of an impact. To increase driver safety, a “breakable” pedal assembly bracket and an energy-absorbing folding steering column are provided.

In 2004, the Toyota Corolla was restyled. The design of the front part of the body and rear lights has changed, and the list of basic and optional equipment has expanded. Among the changes affecting the interior are the appearance of remote control keys for the audio system on the steering wheel and a new climate control panel.
