The Corolla also has a 1.6 engine under the hood, a little more powerful than the Skoda, and more economical, and also has a 6-speed gearbox. And Toyota's timing belt is on a chain, and Skoda's is on a belt. In general, in terms of the engine + gearbox combination, the preferences lie on the side of the Japanese.

As for the suspension, things are like this. Toyota has a beam at the back, Skoda has levers. In terms of handling, it seems like the Octavia should be more interesting, but my personal opinion is that it has too much roll in turns, and given that the 1.6 engine is clearly not for fans of sporty driving, there’s no point in bothering with handling at all.

I haven’t driven the Corolla much, I can’t say anything, but there’s a beam there, in principle, everything is clear.
As far as the front suspension is concerned, all cars in this class are approximately the same. And in principle, after Logan, driving any of these cars will be much more comfortable. The main thing is that the suspension is in good working order, but that’s a completely different question.

Salon. In my subjective opinion, Octavia’s is nicer. My friend likes it much better too. The quality of materials in Skoda will be better, although the interior is boring in both places in my opinion, but the Octavia has a significant and undeniable advantage - it’s the trunk!

He's just huge! Although in this regard, I don’t think it’s entirely fair to compare the sedan and the liftback. Personally, I don't like sedans at all, but my friend doesn't like hatchbacks, so to each his own. But the Octavia certainly has a very interesting body type - sort of like a sedan, but at the same time all the delights of a hatchback.
