When you get acquainted with a new car, the first thing you pay attention to is its appearance. It seems that the new European Corolla looks good! The design progress over the previous generation is really noticeable. The sedan, subordinated to the new corporate design philosophy, looks more advantageous than before.

An armrest with cup holders extends from the middle of the sofa, and the row itself folds in a 40:60 ratio, freeing up access to the luggage compartment. The basic version of the Toyota Corolla has a modest 1.33-liter engine with an output of 99 hp. (a very convenient figure for the Russian Federation), and the torque reaches 128 nm. With such a unit, the car will “require” only 5.6 liters of fuel.

The thrust is “constant” at almost all operating speeds, but its level is not great; for the city this is enough, but on the highway it is not enough. The manual mode of the variator can partly cope with unsatisfactory acceleration. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 11.1 seconds, although in reality it seems longer.
Maximum speed – 185 km/h. With a six-speed manual gearbox, the figures are as follows: 0-100 km/h – 10.5 seconds, top speed – 195 km/h.

Finally, the top modification hides under the hood a four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine, which is tuned to produce 140 hp and a torque of 173 nm. The engine also has a Dual VVT-i variable valve timing system.
In combination with a CVT, this modification “looks” more interesting than the 1.6-liter version. There is noticeably more thrust at the same speed, where the 1.6 engine gives up, the 1.8 “drives” confidently - on the highway this is an undeniable advantage.
When cornering, the Corolla behaves adequately, but roll makes itself felt. But the above drawback is offset by good handling of irregularities - road ripples and medium-sized irregularities are absorbed well. The front suspension is independent, and the rear has a semi-independent beam.
The change from 100 km/h takes 10.2 seconds, the top speed is 195 km/h. In the combined cycle, the car consumes 6.4 liters of fuel.
