How to disassemble a car wheel with your own hands?
The problem of a broken wheel is a common occurrence in the automotive world, and quite often, such a nuisance catches the driver on the road.
It’s good if the motorist can handle the replacement himself, because otherwise he has to turn to other road users for help.
However, the ability to remove and reinstall a car wheel is not the height of skill, and a much more important skill is wheel flanging. How to properly cope with the task and what is required for this, you will learn from this article.
Required Tools
As in any other work, there is nowhere without a preparatory stage, and first you need to prepare the tools necessary for the work. You will not need any special devices, but this does not mean that one hammer and pry bar, which many car owners use to achieve their goal, will be enough.
This will bring you nothing but damaged tires, and even if the defects are not noticeable immediately after removing the tire, over time they will manifest themselves at the most inopportune moment.
Therefore, to dismantle “welded” rubber, take the trouble to buy solvent or turpentine (ordinary alcohol will also work), which, after applying to the right places, will help you remove the tire with ease.
Important! After completing all the steps, you should wipe the treated area dry, completely removing all “wet” traces.
As for the “correct” tools for disassembling a wheel, these include: a jack and wrenches, mounting blades, a steel angle and the same hammer.
Sequencing
The first and most important step towards successfully removing rubber from a wheel with your own hands is to remove the entire wheel.
To do this, raise the car with a jack, unscrew the mounting nuts (it is better to first loosen them with the car lowered) and remove the wheel.
Then, you should lower the tube a little and press the areas of contact between the rim and the tire. This action will make it easier and faster to separate the tire from the rim.
Attention! Wheel disassembly begins on the side opposite the spool, gradually moving along the rim. If you do not have special equipment and appropriate skills, then dismantling one tire will take about 30-40 minutes.
A previously prepared steel corner will help you in separating the two indicated elements (it is better to round it a little), which must be driven between the rim and the tire, pressing on it with some force.
Instead of a corner, mounting blades are often used, which allow disassembly to be performed with a higher level of accuracy without compromising the integrity of the camera. The tire should be removed from the rim very carefully, pressing it slightly.
Once the entire side is out, you can begin to slowly pull out the camera. At this point, the work can be considered completed, and you now know how to disassemble the wheel yourself.
All that remains is to place new tires on the disk and assemble everything in the reverse order.
Features of beading of tubeless tires
A tubeless tire is a tire that has no separation between a tube and a tire. The internal cavity of such a wheel is completely filled with air, which forms a tire sealed tightly on the disk.
The inner layer (sealing) is made of a special mixture of rubbers and, in case of slight damage (or a puncture of the wheel), is capable of partially filling the resulting gap, so that the wheel does not immediately lose pressure.
This fact has a beneficial effect on vehicle safety, which is especially important when driving at high speeds.
In the case of a “tubeless” camera, the manufacturers provided for the presence of structural convexities along the edges, the so-called “humps”. When the wheel is inflated, when the pressure inside the chamber increases, the joints of such tires become compacted.
Because of this feature, this type of wheel is less easy to disassemble and it is likely that many motorists do not even know how to disassemble a tubeless wheel themselves.
In this case, a special beading device comes to the rescue, allowing you to create much greater pressure that can tear the tire off its place.
In road conditions, appropriate kits for repairing tubeless tires can help the driver. In some cases, you have to place a camera inside a damaged tubeless tire in order to somehow get to the nearest tire shop. This last resort is perfect for a badly damaged tire.
If putting a tubeless tire on a wheel is not a very difficult task, for which silicone lubricant and a 30-centimeter thin mounting will be enough (if the wheel has a 16-inch radius, this size will be quite enough), then to inflate such a tire it is necessary that its bead jumps through the hump wheels. Achieving this is much more difficult, since you need a fast supply of a large volume of air, which is inaccessible to automobile compressors.
10-20 grams of gasoline or ether contained in “Quick Start” will help solve the problem. By the way, the latter option is excellent for the winter period, since ether is able to transform well in the cold. Of course, an important point when using this method of inflating a tubeless tire is the moderation of fuel.
Step-by-step instructions for performing this task are as follows:
- Take the wheel and unscrew the valve.
- Pour a small amount of flammable liquid inside the tire.
- Pour some fuel onto the tire bead and light it with a kick or stick.
- Now, with the help of blows, it is necessary to push the burning side inward, thus igniting the fuel vapors inside the tire.
- Through the explosion formed inside, the tire will fit onto the humps and at the same time extinguish the remaining fire on the rubber side.
- Wait a few seconds (the reaction inside the tire should completely finish) and connect the compressor.
That's probably all. Now you know how to board a tubeless camera.
What you shouldn’t forget (Recommendations from experts)
It is quite possible that all the previously described actions will seem too simple to you, but in practice certain difficulties often arise.
To minimize them, you should listen to the recommendations of experts in this regard:
- When assembling the wheel, you cannot ignore the dimensions of the tires, tubes and wheels, as they must completely match each other.
- When replacing one of the wheels, you should not install another type of tire (that is, if all summer tires are installed on the car, you cannot install one winter tire).
- When installing updated tires, it is recommended to use only new tubes.
- Also try to prevent dirt from getting under the tire.
- Do not disassemble using a screwdriver. You won't be able to remove the tire this way, and you can easily damage it.
Typically, wheel disassembly is performed quite rarely, and is required mainly to replace a summer set of tires with a winter one and vice versa. However, if the camera is punctured or damaged, you also have to resort to this dismantling method.
Important! If a tire is damaged by a nail or other sharp object, do not rush to pull it out of the occupied place. Considering that he closes the gap that has appeared, with his presence you will be able to get to the garage, where you can more competently approach the solution to this problem.

Do-it-yourself tire fitting, how to bead a wheel. How to bead a wheel at home. Independent wheel trim
Modern car owners are accustomed to a huge number of tire shops providing their services on virtually every corner.
But, unfortunately, developed tire service is typical for large cities, and we have plenty of so-called “bear corners”, where there are no workshops for several kilometers.
Of course, in this case, a spare wheel can help out, but it often happens that two wheels are broken at the same time. Therefore, even theoretical knowledge about do-it-yourself tire fitting can be useful to any motorist. More on this later in the article.
How to trim using a tow rope and a jack
- We dismantle the wheel and clean it of dirt.
- Let the air out of the wheel and place it with the nipple facing up.
- We pass the tow rope through the hole in the disk.
- Place the jack on the sidewall of the tire as close to the rim as possible. If the tire has a tube, do not place the jack opposite the fitting, otherwise there is a risk of tearing it off the tube.
- We throw the cable over the bracket or platform for lifting the jack and fix the ends of the cable together.
- We rotate the handle of the end of the jack drive so that it pulls the cable up, and the base moves the seat ring down, resting against the sidewall of the tire.
- As soon as this side of the tire separates from the disk, proceed to the next procedure.
- If you only need to change or repair the tube, then using two mounting tools alternately, we lift the sidewall of the tire near the fitting to the end of the rim.
- Push the fitting in and remove the tube from under the tire.
- We remove the nipple from the working chamber and squeeze out the air from it.
- To install a working tube, bend the sidewall of the tire and insert the fitting from the inside into a special hole designed for it. Then we place the tube under the tire.
- To avoid puncturing the tire tube with a tire iron when installing the tire, slightly inflate it without inserting the nipple.
- After beading, insert the nipple into the fitting, inflate and install the wheel in place.
Tools, fixtures, consumables for making a tire changing machine
- Drill.
- Welding machine.
- Lathe or grinder with grinding and flap wheels.
- Rectangular steel pipe.
- Two-inch round pipe (height 1.5 meters).
- Scarves in the form of right triangles (thickness 5 millimeters).
- Old hub.
- A piece of steel sheet (thickness 4-5 millimeters).
- One and a half meter steel pipe.
- Steel bar (diameter 20 millimeters).
Tire changing machine, how to make it yourself, in detail
In this case, the tire changing machine consists of two tools: a bead beating device and the tire changing machine itself, combined into one.
The bottom of the machine frame, H-shaped, 90×60 centimeters, is made from a rectangular steel pipe.
We weld a two-inch round pipe with a height of about one and a half meters to the jumper at a right angle thirty centimeters from the edge.
We reinforce the welding area with gussets in the form of right triangles five millimeters thick. To attach the wheel, we put the old hub on the pipe and weld it to it.
We select the mounting height of the hub to suit the person’s height, so that the wheel lying on it is approximately waist-high.
It is necessary that the pipe rises above the cylinder by at least thirty centimeters and does not interfere with work. A little below the hub we weld a bracket for attaching the side trim device. It can be made from a piece of steel sheet four to five millimeters thick, drilling a special hole in it for a bolt.
The structure of the beating tool is clearly visible in the picture. The pipe for making this unit should be taken wider - a long lever should be inserted into it. The lever for mounting and dismantling tires is made of a steel pipe approximately one and a half meters long. The tips for it are made of steel rod, the diameter of which is twenty millimeters.
The length of the lever can be made different, it all depends on the size of the free space in the garage and the strength of your hands. It is advisable to make the lever tips on a lathe, but they can also be cut using a grinder with a grinding wheel, and then sanded with a flap wheel.
You can see the sizes of the tips in the pictures.
Removing tires using a tire changing machine, step by step
- We clean the wheel from dirt and remove the nipple from it.
- We place a rubber mat on the base of the machine under the rebound lever so as not to scratch the disc, then place the wheel on it.
- Raise the bump stop tab and install it on the sidewall of the tire closer to the rim.
- Lubricate the tire seat ring with soapy water.
- We insert the lever into the bumper pipe.
- By pressing down on the lever, we knock off the tire bead over the entire area of the wheel.
- We do the same on the other side.
- We put a wheel on the pipe and screw it to the machine hub using bolts.
- Using a mounting tool, we lift the tire bead and insert the straight tip of the lever under it.
- Lubricate the rim edge, bead and tip with soapy water.
- We pull the lever towards ourselves, resting it on the pipe above the wheel, while the tire bead will be removed from the disk.
- Remove the tube from the tire.
- Using a mounting tool, we lift the other side, place a lever under it and remove the tire from the rim, proceeding in the same way as described above.
Installation of tires, step by step
- Lubricate the mounting tip of the lever, the edge of the rim and the tire bead with soapy water.
- We put part of the landing board on the disk.
- We insert the mounting tip of the lever between the disk and the attached part of the landing board. The tip ball should rest against the disc, the landing flange should be approximately in the middle of the tip.
- We pull the lever towards ourselves, resting it on the pipe above the wheel. In this case, the tire bead will be placed on the disk in the middle of the mounting tip.
- When you put the first bead of the tire on the disk, lubricate the upper bead with soapy water and do the same with it as with the lower one.
- Once you have the top bead of the tire on the rim, you can inflate the tire.
Pro tip: the smaller the welding angle of the bead tip to the lever, the easier the work; it is better to attach the machine to the garage floor. When boarding, do not forget to use a soap solution
The smaller the welding angle of the bead tip to the handle, the easier it is for the rubber to fit onto the disc. However, don't overdo it. If this angle is very small, then the lever will touch and scratch the disc when beading, so look for the best option.
Since the machine turns out to be very light, for comfortable operation it must be attached to the floor. If your garage has a wood floor, attach the machine base to it using self-tapping screws. If the floor is concrete, make a series of holes in it, install eight-point anchor bolts there and fill it with cement mortar.
To make it easier to work and to avoid harm to the rubber and rims, be sure to lubricate the tire bead, wheel rim and lever ends with soapy water. In addition, you should not work with a dirty wheel; work should always begin by cleaning it.
To repair wheels that differ from yours in the number of mounting holes, as well as the distance between them, you need to make adapters with studs. They are made of metal one centimeter thick.
How to disassemble wheels by running into a car wheel
The main difficulty in the process is due to the fact that even the car owner’s own weight is not enough to create an effort to separate the tire from the bead, which can also be affected by the loss of elasticity of the rubber.
For separation, even running a car over the wheel being repaired is used. To distribute the load, a wide and durable board approximately 1-1.5 meters long is used. The disadvantages of this shockless method are based on the fact that sometimes the rubber deteriorates.
It is advisable to carry out this activity together to adjust the force and speed of the car.
This option is perfect for those who want to learn how to dismantle the wheels of a car themselves, but at the same time their vehicle is on the move.
Impact demolition using a mounting bracket and a sledgehammer
The most common method is percussion. This uses a massive sledgehammer and a mounting bracket. This method was used by all tire service workers and car owners before the advent of mechanized devices. In the corner, it is imperative to blunt all problematic surfaces that could damage the tire.
Dismantling without impact using a jack
Many non-impact methods use the force applied by a car jack. In a number of ways, even the design features of the jack and its type are not important.
In road conditions, a car can serve as a fulcrum. Having fixed the jack and installed it on the point of influence, we apply force until we achieve the required result.
Care must be taken not to break the device.
Without the participation of a vehicle, dismantling will require, in addition to a jack, strong straps, as well as a reliable metal rod, which can be replaced with a mounting spatula or a long open-end wrench.
First, we place a duct with a fixed loop under the wheel. A jack is placed under the loop from the strap, which is installed at the dismantling point.
When the bar or rod is stretched along the thread, pressure occurs at the contact point.
If you plan to disassemble the wheel yourself at home, you can mount a fairly rigid lever of a channel, pipe or other construction profile into a concrete wall in a permanent garage. Such a cantilever beam will provide a reliable support for the jack.
Unbundling using two strong boards
You can do without a major overhaul by using a couple of durable boards. They are used as a lever that presses on the side of the wheel. Due to the difference in the length of the arm, a force is exerted on the substrate, which tears the rubber out of place.
Do-it-yourself special equipment for tire fitting on the road
There are special devices for sale for this event. Some models are quite bulky for constant transportation in the trunk, but are very effective in operation.
Tips for making work easier when disassembling
The most convenient point to start disassembling is the side opposite the spool. Before starting the event, you can add a little WD-40 auxiliary fluid. In just a few minutes, the liquid will penetrate into all hard-to-reach places and dissolve a certain amount of the problematic material. As practice shows, this does not create an aggressive effect on the rubber.

Several shock-free ways to disassemble a tire
With the development of tire installation, many novice drivers, unlike experienced drivers of the older generation, do not know how to seal the tube, or how to change it, or how to separate the tire from the wheel - that is, the disassembly process itself.
They don’t know while they’re driving around the city, but it’s worth going somewhere far away to the sea, or at least to a dacha, and then an inexperienced driver may be in for a surprise lying on the road, in the form of a nail. And the spare tire has long been punctured. And any driver immediately becomes interested in how to separate the tire from the rim, especially if it has been thoroughly stuck to the edge of the rim over many years.
In this article, we will look at several ways to peel a tire from a rim - de-beading, and when using them you will not need to swing a sledgehammer.
On motorcycle wheels, the effect of “accretion” of the tire bead to the rim flange is very rare, although it also happens, especially when using a wide tubeless tire, but on cars the tire is necessarily glued, and the stronger the longer the wheel has not been dismantled. And the process of “welding” the tire to the rim depends on the composition of the rubber, the surface of the rim flange, how hot the tire was during operation, what pressure it had, and on the design of the rim itself.
And if the rim is designed for a tubeless tire, that is, it has bulges (hamps) on the edges to hold the tire and seal the joint during inflation, then such a tire is even more difficult to separate from the rim.
In tire shops there is a special machine for this, which develops quite a lot of force to separate the tire from the rim.
Naturally, on an autonomous route, somewhere in the outback, you may not come across a tire shop with such a machine, but instead you may be greeted with open arms by Uncle Vasya, with a sledgehammer and a couple of cut corners.
Of course, there are kits for repairing tubeless tires on the road, but many drivers even install a tube in a tubeless tire if the rim is slightly damaged and the tire does not hold pressure. Although a tubeless tire can be properly repaired if you only separate it from the rim. To separate the tire bead from the rim flange, many people try to use their own weight by standing on a lying wheel.
But rarely does a weight of 80 kg allow you to achieve anything, especially if the tire is normal and has not lost its elasticity. And it is not always possible to tear off a high-quality fresh tire, especially a tubeless one, with its own weight, even 90-100 kg.
After all, the force must be applied at the very edge of the rim and tire, and here the foot slips and the shoes become damaged.<\p>
There are several non-impact methods (I will only remind you about impact methods that spoil the rubber) for easily tearing off a glued tire from the wheel rim.
And the most common method, which by the way has several disadvantages, is to run the car into a board placed on the tire of a wheel, as in the photo on the left.
This is not always possible in practice, since firstly you need a strong board, and secondly, in order to run over a punctured wheel, you need to replace this wheel on the car with a spare tire, and if it is punctured.
Moreover, if you have a spare tire, then by installing it, you can safely drive to the nearest tire shop.
<\p>
The most common method (impact), which by the way was also used in tire fitting until the appearance of a beading machine, is to separate the tire from the rim using a sledgehammer and a piece of metal corner, as in Figure 1 a, or a piece of spring - Figure 1 b.
And although the sharp edges of a corner or spring should naturally be blunted, this method can still slightly ruin a high-quality tire, and even the paint on the rim.
Therefore, it should be used in rare cases, and why, if there are other non-impact methods that do not require swinging a sledgehammer and which we will consider below.
<\p>
Other non-impact methods for dismantling wheels are based on the use of a standard jack for domestic cars. The use of a jack with a car can be seen in the photo on the left.
But most methods using a jack can be used without the participation of a machine (or rather its weight). <\p>
And one of the best ways can be seen in Figure 1. And compared to the common method shown in Figure 2, this method has a great advantage.
With this method (as in Fig. 1), the tipping force acts on the jack much less, that is, it is much easier to hold it vertically (perpendicular to the wheel). In addition, this method allows you to use almost all car jacks (hydraulic, angular, diamond-shaped, etc.).
And with this method, you do not need to carry additional equipment in the trunk, except for a jack and a strong rope or strap. And the role of the lower stop can be successfully performed by a large open-end wrench or a mounting blade.
Well, if you are going to dismantle the wheel in your permanent garage, then you can make a special recess in the wall into which a piece of profile pipe is concreted, and then use it to support the jack (as shown in Figures 5 and 4).
If, for example, you arrived at your dacha and found a punctured wheel, then having found suitable thick boards, you can use another method of dismantling the wheel, shown in Figure 6.
With this method, the force of peeling off the tire will depend on the ratio of arms A and B, so the length of the boards matters. By the way, now on sale you can find very useful lever devices for easy, shock-free wheel disassembly.
One of these useful devices is shown in Figure 7. It is quite effective and its only drawback is its rather large dimensions due to the length of the lever, although it depends on what kind of trunk the car has.
But if you have a small trunk, then the lever can be shortened (cut off), and to lengthen it, use a suitable pipe, which will be put on before work, lengthening the lever.
You can look for sale or make your own other spectacular devices, for example, as in Figures 9 and 8.
If you make the device shown in Figure 9, it will take up very little space in your trunk, but will be very useful.
The dimensions in the drawing can be slightly changed to suit the diameter of the wheels of your car. And finally, one more piece of advice.
Before you begin to dismantle the wheel, it is useful to spray a penetrating liquid, for example the common “Vedashka” (WD-40) or Unisma, into the joint of the tire bead and the rim, wait about five minutes and then start working. And the tire will come off much easier from the rim flange.
By the way, it has been verified that these liquids do not have a bad effect on rubber. Well, I hope everyone can seal a tube or repair a tubeless tire, and if someone is going to do it themselves for the first time, then I advise you to read this article, which describes in detail the repair sequence for both tubeless and tube tires.
In addition to commercially available vulcanizers that operate on 12 volts, there are now many kits on sale for cold gluing of both tubes and tubeless tires. And each set comes with instructions for use.
In conclusion, I advise you to watch an interesting video under the article about a simple device for shock-free wheel disassembly, which you can make yourself from very affordable pipe scraps that can be found at any scrap metal.
I hope this article will help novice drivers disassemble a tire on their own and without pain, then repair either a tube or a tubeless tube and get home safely, good luck to everyone.

How to dismantle a car wheel?
The situation when you have to dismantle a wheel is familiar to every car owner. Seasonal tire change, or a “caught” nail on the road. The driver does not always have the desire (or opportunity) to go to the nearest tire shop, where specialists will do everything for you for quite a bit of money. How to dismantle a car wheel using improvised means at home?
Many drivers only dismantle the wheel themselves, not trusting anyone to do it, and all because a situation happens when the tire is “welded” and a hasty technician (or simply an incompetent one) can simply completely ruin your tires. Therefore, it is best to learn how to disassemble a wheel with your own hands - then you will be 100% confident in the accuracy of disassembly.
What do you need to disassemble a car tire yourself?
A few “available means” and a great desire, plus a little more effort. You have probably seen more than once how would-be drivers try to remove “welded” rubber from the wheel rim by hitting a hammer with a pry bar, please don’t do this. Even if at first there is no noticeable damage to the tires, over time they will appear and “shoot” at you at a completely inopportune time.
Buy solvent or turpentine at any hardware store; alcohol will also work. Pour it over the tire where it is “welded”, wait a couple of minutes, and calmly remove the tire from the rim. Then just don’t forget to wipe the whole area dry!
Wheel dismantling tools:
• jack and wrenches;
• a pair of mounting blades;
• steel corner;
• hammer.
In order to properly disassemble a wheel, you need to remove it from the car. Then, using a steel corner, we remove the tire from the rim; to do this, we drive this corner between the rim and the tire and apply force. Dismantling the wheel must begin on the side opposite the spool.
The wheel tube must be deflated. It is advisable to round the end of the corner to make it easier to work and not damage the tire. Trying not to touch the tube, you must very carefully remove the tire from the rim, pressing it down a little. Once the entire side of the tire is outside the rim, you can carefully remove the tube. That's it, your wheel disassembly is complete. Everything is put together in reverse order.
A few tips to consider when disassembling correctly
• If you had to replace one of the wheels after disassembling, you should not install a different type of tire. Even if it is expensive, it is better not to change a winter tire to a summer one. Or vice versa.
• The size of the tire, rims and tube are not ignored when reassembling the wheel after disassembly.
• If you renewed the tire after disassembling it, you must install a new tube.
• During installation, be sure to ensure that no dirt or sand gets under the tire.
• If you do not have mounting blades with you, you can separate the tire from the rim using a jack.
• Do not try to save money and seal the hole in the chamber after puncture and disassembly using improvised means. This is still your safety on the road.
• Carry out a visual inspection of the wheels more often so that you can “catch” the problem in time and you don’t have to disassemble it in the middle of the road.
• Do not use a screwdriver to disassemble the wheels yourself, you can damage both the tire and the tube, and this is not a cheap pleasure.
If you “catch” a nail on the road and the wheel begins to go flat a little, do not make the common mistake of beginners and do not immediately pull out this ill-fated nail. It will allow you to retain the remaining air in the chamber for a short time, and this will allow you to get to the garage or tire shop, where you can safely carry out disassembly.
There is one more rule that must always be followed when disassembling yourself - we disassemble FROM the chamber nipple, but we side it TO it. After you have started beading, you need to suddenly give air into the chamber without a spool to straighten it out and place it in the tire. When the tube is level in the tire, you can slowly inflate the wheel to the required volume.
Now you know how to properly dismantle your car's wheel yourself.
The matter, of course, is troublesome and time-consuming, but the drivers of the old generation did not trust this process to anyone, and we will follow their example.
A guarantee of your safety on the road is the confidence that everything in your car is done conscientiously. And who better and more conscientiously can disassemble a car wheel than its owner!
And there is one more nuance - the entire procedure described above is only suitable for tube-type wheels, but if you have tubeless tires, everything is different. You won't be able to repair a wheel after damage this way!

How to bead a car wheel yourself
How to change tires yourself?
Re-aligning wheels in a tire shop is a common procedure typical for the tire changing season. However, there are times when removing a tire from a rim may be necessary on a long journey, when instead of special equipment, only standard tools are at hand.
A flat tire on the highway is more than a simple nuisance. Especially when there is no spare tire in the trunk. If the damage is quite serious, you will need to remove the tire from the rim, seal it with special patches and install it in place.
Removing a wheel without a jack
How to bead a car wheel yourself?
If the wheel is used for a long time, then most likely you will encounter the effect of the rubber “sticking” to the disk. To separate a tubeless tire without damage, manufacturers equip tires with “hamps” - special bulges along the edges.
Before beading the wheel, it is advisable to find an assistant. The process itself is physically demanding, and the weight of one person is often not enough to separate the tire from the bead. Especially if the rubber has lost its elasticity due to natural aging.
How to bead a wheel manually?
To bead a car wheel yourself, you can use the impact or non-impact method.
In the first case, you will need a mounting bracket and something heavy to hit (for example, a sledgehammer). The corner should be blunted so as not to damage the tire.
A metal part placed under the base of the tire acts as a lever. Dosed shock impacts allow you to remove the tire from the rim in several steps, after which you can begin repairs.
The non-impact method involves using a jack or the weight of the car.
Using improvised means as a jack
If you don’t know how to bead a car wheel yourself without extra effort, find a thick board 1-1.5 meters long, lay it on the tire and ask it to carefully drive over the improvised lining. The weight of the car will cause the tire to come off the rim, after which you can finally dismantle it using a small crowbar.
Removing a tire using a jack is more difficult. The fulcrum, in this case, can be the car itself. Having placed the wheel under the bottom, we install the jack on the edge of the tire and begin to work with the tool until the tire comes off the rim.
Dismantling using a jack
Some current tips on how to bead a car wheel yourself:
- It is better to start dismantling the tire from the side opposite the spool.
- To make tire removal easier, you can use WD-40. After a couple of minutes, the lubricant will penetrate into all problem areas and help avoid damage to the rubber.
- When installing a tire after repair, pay attention to the signs and color marks.
- For a more gentle installation, it is recommended to lubricate the rim with soapy water. But the main thing is not to overdo it. It happens that after re-flipping the wheels, friction can be heard when braking. Excessive lubrication causes the tire to slip on the rim.
Treating the wheel with wd-40
Beading a wheel with your own hands - advice from professionals
Not knowing how to bead a wheel on a car themselves, motorists are faced with the following problem: the tire is already put on the rim, but there is no tight fit, and, therefore, it is impossible to inflate it.
In tire fitting conditions, this is done in a matter of seconds by applying excess pressure. But in road conditions, special equipment is not available.
So how can you bead a wheel on a car yourself?
Russian ingenuity comes to the rescue. A small amount of gasoline or other flammable substance is poured inside the tire and set on fire. When ignited, the vapors sharply push out the air, create the necessary pressure and seat the tire on the disk, sealing the joints.
Craftsmen have found, perhaps, the easiest way to bead a wheel - using gasoline! But the amount of fuel to be poured will have to be determined by eye - the exact indicators for achieving the optimal effect are unknown. All you have to do is not to overdo it, otherwise the wheel may explode.
When the tire is firmly seated on the rim, inflate the wheel and check its tightness. If there is no noticeable etching of air, you can continue on your way.

How easy is it to disassemble a wheel?
Sooner or later, the question arises for any car enthusiast: how to dismantle a wheel yourself? Of course, for a reasonable fee, any auto repair shop will fulfill this request, as they say, with feeling, sensibly, and with care.
What if you want to dismantle the wheel yourself or there is no way to contact a specialist? Then you should follow the following recommendations.
There are many ways to disassemble a wheel. It is enough to have some tools with you that can easily be found in any garage.
And you don’t need any special tools to unscrew the wheel or lower the camera.
Necessary tools for disassembling a car wheel
All you need to do is
- jack,
- spanners,
- not new (preferably blunt) mounting blades.
The main thing is that when disassembling the wheel, do not use a screwdriver, because this increases the likelihood of damaging the camera.
And buying a new one is not a cheap pleasure. When dismantling a wheel, many car enthusiasts also use a hammer and a metal rounded corner (so as not to tear the tube).
For the full effect of the action, the corner is driven around the circumference into the gap between the rim and the tire.
Of course, this method is imperfect and some car owners can confidently say that you won’t find anything better than professionals at a tire service. What if it's an emergency? Is the nearest auto repair shop tens of kilometers away?
First of all
In order to disassemble a wheel in the field, you first need to remove the wheel from the car. After that, it is necessary to release the air from the chamber and thoroughly press the places where the rim comes into contact with the tire.
After all, sometimes the tire tends to stick to the rim, and this, in turn, can complicate the disassembly process. If this happens, then you can use a jack.
The preparatory process is completed, now we should move on to the most important thing - disassembly.
Secondly
Carefully, trying not to touch the camera too much, we disassemble it with two mounting blades. It is better to start on the opposite side of the spool. If you have helpers, this is even better - the process will go a little faster.
When disassembling, you should gradually remove the tire until the entire side of the tire is outside. And only now should you take out the camera itself. After this, we can say that the disassembly was successful.
Assembly Recommendation
The assembly process must be done in reverse order. The only thing is that if a motorist punctures a tubeless tire, then disassembly is not required. In such cases, special sealants are used that allow the puncture to be patched for a certain period of time.

How to dismantle a car wheel
Any car owner eventually has problems with wheel alignment.
You can, of course, resort to the help of specialists from auto repair shops, where they will dismantle the wheel for you without any problems, but in case you are limited in money or are far from the city and want to carry out this procedure yourself, we will give you some simple tips and advice.
Instructions for disassembling wheels
To disassemble the wheel yourself, you will need only the simplest tools that absolutely everyone has in the garage: mounting blades, a jack, wrenches, as well as a hammer and a steel corner, which you need to drive into the gap between the tire and the rim, thus removing the tire from wheel rim.
After you complete this step (the wheel must be removed from the car), you should lower the wheel tube and press the areas where the tire and rim contact. This is done to more quickly and efficiently separate the tire from the rim. It happens that the tire sticks to the rim, then a jack is used.
Next comes the most important thing - the actual disassembly. You need to take two mounting blades. It is best to start from the area opposite to the location of the spool in the wheel.
Disassembly is carried out with high precision, trying not to damage the integrity of the camera. You need to carefully pull out the tire until all of it is outside. Now you can remove the camera. In principle, disassembly is complete.
The wheel is assembled in the opposite order.
Recommendations from experts
1) When assembling a wheel, you should not ignore the sizes of tires, tubes, and rims.
2) When replacing one of the wheels, you should not install a different type of tire (if all the tires are winter, you cannot install summer tires).
3) When installing updated tires, it is recommended to use only new tubes.
4) You must try to prevent dirt from penetrating under the tire during installation.
5) It is possible to separate the tire from the rim using a jack.
As a rule, disassembly is performed quite rarely, for example, to replace a summer set of tires with a winter set, and vice versa. It is very important to disassemble the wheel if the tube is damaged or punctured.
Note that if a tire is damaged by a nail, there is no need to rush to immediately remove the damaging element from the wheel, since it retains air well and you will be able to get to the garage, where you can disassemble it and perform other necessary repairs in the most comfortable conditions.
A mistake when disassembling is to do it with a screwdriver. You won’t be able to disassemble the wheel using this method; moreover, you can damage the tube, and purchasing a new one will be quite expensive.
