DVR with radar detector: which model is better to buy

Place Name Characteristics in the rating
The best inexpensive video recorders with radar detectors: budget up to 10,000 rubles.
The best video recorders with radar detectors: budget up to 20,000 rubles.
The best DVRs with premium radar detectors

A video recorder with a radar detector (or as it is mistakenly called a “radar detector”) is a popular combined auto gadget designed to save space on the car’s windshield.

In some cases, purchasing a combination device can save up to 30%.

And if previously such devices were inferior to mono-directional options, today manufacturers have learned to make hybrids that record video with high quality and promptly notify the driver of an approaching camera.

But first, let's make a small digression. In the article we write “ radar detector ”, although in fact we mean by this word “ radar detector ”. The fact is that 90% of users do not see any difference in this. Although the difference is significant. A radar detector is a device for jamming or distorting a radar signal.

That is, the task of the radar detector is to confuse the radar. You can drive at a speed of 200 km/h past the radar and remain unnoticed. In Russia, and in many countries around the world, such devices are prohibited by law. In turn, the radar detector only determines the presence of a radar by picking up a signal at a certain frequency.

This is a harmless device that, unlike a radar detector, can be used legally.

Now let's move on to studying the best models of DVRs with a radar detector. Unlike mono devices, many functions must be implemented with high quality. When selecting candidates for our rating, we took into account the following characteristics and indicators:

  1. Detection level of fixed cameras
  2. Viewing angle
  3. Video resolution
  4. Write speed
  5. Radar detector sensitivity, supported ranges
  6. High-quality GPS informer
  7. Convenient fastening
  8. Compact size
  9. Maximum size of supported memory cards
  10. Availability of night shooting

This is only a partial list of what a car owner wants to see in a purchased “2 in 1” device. However, as our research has shown, today it is almost impossible to find a combined video recorder in which all of the above functions are implemented at the highest level.

Absolutely every device has its drawbacks, even premium models with a $400 price tag. Some have poorly implemented cameras, others have problems with GPS.

Very often you can hear complaints about the quality of detection of stationary cameras - according to users, 99% of devices suffer from this ailment (maybe it’s not the devices?).

In general, paying attention to both technical characteristics and the opinions of car owners, we have compiled two ratings of the best “2 in 1” combined devices: DVR + radar detector.

We recommend:
12 of the best DVRs

3 Playme P200 TETRA

Significantly inferior in technical characteristics to its closest competitors, the Playme P200 TETRA DVR is in third position in the rating. By and large, we cannot highlight anything remarkable in the functionality of this model. Video recording resolution is medium (1280×720). Viewing angle – 120 degrees.

, not a little, but not a lot either, road signs will be removed, but on wide roads it may not be enough. There may also be problems with operation in winter, because the operating temperature range is from -10 to +45 degrees. The maximum memory card size is only 32 GB. For comparison, KARKAM Combo 3 supports 120 GB, that is, four times more.

Of course, the memory reserve may not be enough to store a long history.

You can find a lot of reviews about this DVR. But you need to be careful, because there are a lot of frankly fake reviews left by store managers and other interested parties.

This applies not only to this particular model, but also to all 2-in-1 devices in our rating. Be that as it may, the advantage of the Playme P200 TETRA is its price, which is much lower than its closest competitors.

Although, many will probably prefer to pay a little extra and get more functional 2-in-1 devices.

If the quality of the DVR is your top priority, and only as an addition to the radar detector, then we advise you to pay attention to the budget device Sho-Me Combo No. 5 A7.

Of the models under consideration, this DVR has the highest video recording resolution – 2304×1296. It is also distinguished by the presence of Full HD mode at 1080p.

Of the models under consideration, this also has the most capacious battery – 280 mAh. And all this with a price tag of no more than 10,000 rubles.

Sho-Me Combo No. 5 A7, in essence, is an updated model of the popular DVR Sho-Me Combo No. 1. However, in Sho-Me Combo No. 5 A7 the viewing angle is 20 degrees. more (140 gr. vs. 120 gr.

), the maximum video recording resolution is higher, the frame rate is higher, and a number of new functions have appeared, such as WDR, write protection, etc. With all this, the new Combo No. 5 costs almost 2 thousand rubles.

cheaper than the “old” Combo No. 1.

But it was not without its shortcomings. Judging by the reviews, the device has a flimsy body, the buttons “walk” and are not made thoroughly. Some users have complaints about freezes and glitches.

We deservedly awarded the first place in our rating to a device of Russian origin - KARKAM Combo 3, one of the best-selling 2-in-1 combination devices.

This is a model that perfectly combines the functions of a DVR, radar detector and GPS informer. This is the only device in the budget price segment that can determine coordinates using the GLONASS system.

In tandem with GPS, terrain orientation will be faster and more accurate.

In KARKAM Combo 3 you will find some of the best detail in videos as it shoots at 1920x1080 resolution. The viewing angle here is also the best among the devices under consideration - 160 degrees. Absolutely all road signs and neighboring cars will be captured by the DVR.

This model is distinguished by the presence of a night shooting function, a WDR function and a photo mode. There is also a motion detector that allows you to start recording only when motion is detected in the frame. KARKAM Combo 3 is the best “2 in 1” DVR in terms of functionality and technical characteristics.

User reviews

Advantages:

  • Shooting quality
  • Viewing angle, glass lenses
  • Flash drive included (can be expanded up to 128 GB)
  • Affordable price

Flaws:

  • There are complaints about the mounting not being very comfortable
  • The battery does not hold - the device turns off immediately after turning off the power
  • Night photography is almost useless
  • The radar detector sometimes does not work on some types of cameras (for example, ARENA three-legged cameras)

KARKAM Combo 3 “in operation”

3 Neoline X-COP 9000

The brainchild of the Neoline company closes the top three. The X-COP 9000 model is one of the most successful in the line and has been faithfully serving many car owners for several years.

The price is the best thing about the Neoline X-COP 9000. The purchase will cost about 20 - 30% cheaper than the purchase of the other two DVRs in our rating.

The user will be pleased with the image quality, since the model is equipped with an image stabilizer, which is designed to reduce jerking and shaking when shooting video.

In turn, the WDR function will improve image quality when illuminated by the headlights of oncoming cars or bright rays of the sun.

Of course, the device is not without its shortcomings. If the quality of the radar detector is of paramount importance to you, then purchasing the Neoline X-COP 9000 is not the most ideal solution.

The device easily detects many radars, including “Robot”, “Cordon”, “AMATA”, “Arena”, “Binar”, “Visir”, etc. But false alarms and too long GPS delays are too common.

By the way, almost all Neoline combo devices suffer from this. At least, this is what numerous reviews from car owners indicate.

We gave second place in the ranking of the best to a device of Korean origin – Neoline X-COP 9700. This is the most expensive DVR with a radar detector in our rating.

Positive reviews indicate an interesting design, a convenient touch screen, a website with firmware, and adequate technical support. In general, there should be no problems with warranty situations, since Neoline service centers are located in all major cities of the Russian Federation.

As a DVR, this device works at 4+. The video recording resolution is 1920×1080 – at the same level as the best in our rating. There is a touch screen, motion detection in the frame, and a function for recording events in a separate file. In terms of the size of supported memory cards, the X-COP 9700 is a leader. Still, 64 GB is 2 times better than the 32 GB of the rating leader DATAKAM G5-CITY.

But there are complaints about the radar detector. Some car owners complain about the long search for satellites and frequent false alarms. This is evidenced by numerous reviews on Yandex Market. It is difficult to say whether these are real facts or tricks of competitors. In any case, you can verify the veracity of these reviews only by testing the device in practice.

The leader in the rating of the best “2 in 1” DVRs in the segment up to 20 thousand rubles. is DATAKAM G5-CITY PRO-BF. At the same time, this device is a leader both in terms of functionality and in terms of reviews from car owners.

Among the technical characteristics and capabilities, it is worth noting the presence of a neodium magnetic mount (the fastest removable mount in the world), 2 Micro-SD slots with copying, night shooting at 20 megabits, built-in GPS and GLONASS.

The viewing angle here is also the largest - 170 degrees. This is 20% more than the competitors under consideration.

The radar detector of DATAKAM G5-CITY is one of the most “working”, compared to many other combined DVRs. At the very least, there are very few negative reviews on detecting ambushes and updating software.

The Datacam-SpeedCam system notifies the driver about all speed cameras, dedicated lanes, traffic police posts and known traffic police ambush spots. Also, the driver will always be aware of approaching speed bumps, dangerous turns and other POIs.

Of course, most alerts can be turned off, since the device can talk very often, which some car owners will not like.

In fact, DATAKAM G5-CITY PRO-BF is a 3 in 1 device: DVR + SPEEDCAM radar detector + GLONASS tracker. Perhaps the only thing we can find fault with is the price tag, which has remained at the level of 15 thousand rubles for a long time.

Video review of DATAKAM G5-CITY PRO-BF

One of the most successful models in the Street Storm line. The premium combo device can record high-quality videos in a resolution of 2304x1296. This is achieved thanks to the well-coordinated work of the Ambarella A7LA50D processor and the best video sensor – OmniVision OV4689.

The DVR can record in Super HD 1296p, Wide Full HD and Full HD with Real HDR with high detail. The camera has 4 megapixels, which is also the best among its competitors.

In terms of video quality (detail), we can safely put this model in first place in the ranking.

The device's hardware includes all modern functions and extras: shock sensor, protocol copy, WDR function, data stamp on video recording, band control, and so on. The lens consists of 6 layers of glass and has a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees.

The manufacturability of the radar detector is beyond doubt; you wouldn’t expect anything else from a device with a price tag of more than $350. The radar detector detects all existing radar and laser systems (arrow, autodoria, robot, chris, etc.), and signals stationary cameras via GPS. By the way, if you wish, you can turn off the “K” and “Ka” ranges, which relieves the processor and increases the “response” of the detector.

Operation of the radar detector in Street Storm STR-9970BT

Second place in the rating is DATAKAM G5-REAL MAX-BF Limited Edition, one of the most advanced DVRs in the DATAKAM line.

The device is equipped with a state-of-the-art 7-element lens with an aperture of F-1.6, which significantly improves the quality of video recording at night.

We also note the presence of a polarizing blend filter, which protects the lens from sunlight and glare.

One of the main “features” of the G5-REAL MAX-BF is a unique magnetic mount with pass-through power through the holder. Many users appreciate the benefit of this mount as it eliminates the problem of dangling wires. Installation on magnets takes a matter of seconds and you can just as quickly remove the DVR from the mount, for example, to take it home for the night. Very comfortably!

The principle of operation of the magnetic mount is shown in the following video:

We also note the presence of 2 slots for memory cards up to 64 GB, built-in GPS, GLONASS, G-sensor and self-diagnosis system. There are no complaints from car owners about the radar detector.

Neoline X-COP R750 is the leader in the rating of premium models, a new combined device from NEOLINE. The manufacturer managed to solve a common problem with DVRs - “glare disease”.

This was made possible thanks to high-quality optics consisting of 6 glass lenses and an anti-reflective CPL filter. The device is not afraid of glare from headlights and reflections of objects on the windshield of a car. It is impossible not to mention the “brain” filling.

X-COP R750 is equipped with the most powerful Ambarella processor and sensor from Sony today, the symbiosis of which makes it possible to record very high-quality video.

Many users will be pleased with one of the largest screens in the class – 2.8″, which is also touch-sensitive! A big advantage is the presence of Wi-Fi, with which you can transfer recorded videos to a computer, and possibly update data from stationary cameras. The maximum memory card size is 128 GB, also the best among the competitors under consideration.

As for the operation of the radar detector (anti-radar), there should be no problems here, since the device is equipped with an intelligent signal processing system for the radar detector and the base of stationary cameras.

NEOLINE X-COP R750 can detect 45 types of kits, as well as intersections, pedestrian areas, bus lanes, etc.

Separately, it is worth noting the Z-signature filter, designed to eliminate false positives and notify the driver only of a real threat.

The best DVRs with a radar detector according to user reviews

When it comes to emergency situations on the road, even the most attentive and skillful driver is at risk.

It is especially important to have a DVR when you are driving for a long time, working on a car, etc. But the registrar will not interfere with an ordinary driver, but on the contrary will help to understand a complex legal process.

In addition to shooting video, most models are equipped with additional useful functionality. For example, a GPS receiver is used to display the exact coordinates of a car and its speed, as well as compare this data with video material.

Another useful feature is the G-sensor. It detects vehicle acceleration and turns on automatically when you start moving, and in the event of a collision, copies the recorded video to a separate folder.

Today we will talk about the best DVRs that are equipped with radar detectors.

A radar detector (or “radar detector”) is a device built into the DVR that warns the driver when approaching police radars (mobile and stationary). Can work as a separate device.

The best DVRs with radar detectors - TOP 10 rating

The recording device market is currently oversaturated. It is quite difficult to choose a recorder that combines wide functionality, good video quality, ease of use, a powerful battery and compact size.

We have selected the 10 best “2 in 1” models in our opinion, which were selected according to many parameters, including reviews from customers and experts. Below we have made a short review of each device, which will reveal all the pros and cons.

Car cameras have long been a favorite accessory among car enthusiasts. Thanks to them, a huge number of funny and not so funny videos appeared on Youtube. In many cases, this small device helped prove his innocence to the owner of the registrar.

To ensure that your camera doesn’t let you down at the right moment, you need to choose the right model that will be equipped with the necessary functionality. In the Buyer's Guide we go into detail about which features you should pay attention to first.

1. DATAKAM G5-CITY Pro-BF – the best choice of 2017

Datakam is considered one of the most innovative DVRs on the market. Unlike competitors, they do not release dozens of new devices, trying to fill the market with quantity, but improve their existing devices.

There are only 7 models in the G5 line, but only one of them, CITY Pro-BF, was able to take first place in our “Best DVRs with radar detectors 2017” rating.

The technical characteristics of this device are impressive. Video recording is available at 1920x1080 resolution at 30 fps, while photo mode allows you to shoot at 4608x2592 resolution.

To ensure that photos and videos of such quality have a place to store, CITY Pro-BF has 2 slots for microSD up to 32 GB.

You can control the radar and camera using a small but convenient 1.6-inch screen.

Among the useful functions, it is worth noting the shock sensor (G-sensor), GPS, GLONASS and motion detector in the frame.

The Datakam DVR is attached to the glass using a unique technology developed by the company specifically for this line. Using the bracket, the camera is easy to control, and installation will only take you a few minutes.

The proprietary Datakam Player application is very easy to use. It is also compatible with other devices, you can read about this on the official website. Application features: shows data from GPS and Glonass satellites, speed, distance traveled, G-sensor data and more.

Despite its wide functionality, the Datakam hybrid recorder has relatively compact dimensions - 95x39x48 mm. It can be mounted on the glass in the center, the camera will still give good viewing angles, and it is almost invisible from the outside.

2. Inspector Cayman S – signature radar detector

The second place in our rating is occupied by the improved Inspector Cayman model with the addition of S. This is a compact device that can be easily hidden behind the rearview mirror. Despite its small size, the internals of the recorder can compete with many top models.

Cayman S can operate in 3 modes: DVR, radar detector, shared mode. These modes are easy to change on the go, the buttons on the panel are very convenient and easy to find blindly.

Convenient mounting allows you to rotate the screen around its axis. The position can be fixed using a screw; the camera does not move when moving.

The radar detector has 4 modes: Signatures, IQ Signatures, Highway, City. At a distance of 100 meters, the following radars are easily detected: CORDON, KRECHET, VOKORD, ISKRA, BINAR and others.

The powerful Ambarella A12 processor has made it possible to significantly improve the shooting quality compared to its predecessor, up to Full HD (1920×1080). The recording will clearly show the license plates, color and make of the car. Thanks to the built-in GPS, speed and route are recorded.

3. IBOX Combo F5

The third place in our rating is confidently occupied by the flagship device IBOX Combo F5. This device has everything you need for safe driving on highways and roads in the city.

A video recorder will protect you from unexpected expenses after an accident, a radar detector will help you avoid a fine for speeding (but it’s better not to exceed it at all), and a GPS informer will accurately determine your location.

3 operating modes will allow you to use the recorder's resources as comfortably as possible. “Moscow” is the first mode that turns off the radar detector, since the probability of a false alarm is very high. “Russia” – the second mode, allows an excess of + 20 km/h. “Kazakhstan” is the third mode, which allows an excess of +10 km/h.

The mounting of this device is reliable, but the bracket cannot be adjusted horizontally; adjustment is only carried out vertically. Overall, this is a decent model for the money. Let's take a closer look at the positive and negative points from customer reviews.

4. TrendVision COMBO – with Super HD camera

The TrendVision company is famous for its recorders, producing high-quality and functional models for different tastes and colors. Now they have decided to go for a hybrid version, which includes a GPS receiver, a video recorder and a radar detector.

All this is hidden under the beautiful TrendVision COMBO housing. Outwardly, it resembles an ordinary digital camera, and only upon closer examination do we realize that it is something more.

The device can hardly be called compact; it will be easy to notice on the windshield, but considering that this is a “3 in 1” device, such dimensions are quite justified.

The radar detector in this model works like a clock. In the city, it warns of an approaching radar 150-200 meters away, depending on the type of system. TrendVision COMBO has several operating modes (city, highway, automatic), which differ in speed settings.

The Ambarella A7LA50D processor allows you to shoot video with a resolution of 2304x1296 at 30 fps, 1280x720 at 60 fps. The viewing angle is 170°, that is, almost the entire right and left side of the road will fit. You can also take photos at 1920x1080 resolution. A built-in 280 mAh battery will ensure the recorder operates without power sources for 15 minutes.

5. KARKAM Combo 3 – with built-in 3G/4G module

Fifth place in our rating is occupied by the unique device KARKAM Combo 3. It simultaneously combines 5 useful devices that will help the car enthusiast emerge victorious from any situation. So, let's take a closer look at each of the functions.

Video is recorded with a resolution of 1920×1080 at 30 fps, 1280×720 at 60 fps. The camera records license plates and traffic conditions equally well both during the day and at night. If the video is illuminated by car headlights or the sun, you can use the built-in WDR function. The diagonal viewing angle is 160°, which means that cars from adjacent rows, road signs, and the like are placed in the frame.

8 best DVRs with radar detector (2 in 1)

Warn and record: the best video recorders with radar detectors, according to reviews from experts and car enthusiasts

To achieve maximum efficiency, radar detectors have long been using navigation data: by checking the map of “alarm points” stored in memory, they are able to issue a warning signal even when there is no signal from police radars. But cars already have one gadget that uses GPS geopositioning in the same way: we are talking about video recorders, which have long been able to record the speed and location of the car on video.

So why not combine two devices in one? This will not only save space on the dashboard and windshield, but will also make using the radar detector functionality more convenient.

After all, the DVR has a screen on which you can perfectly display detailed information about the source of the alarm, and it’s also more convenient to configure the radar detector. This idea occurred to the developers of DVRs a long time ago, so there are quite a lot of similar models on our market.

All that remains is to figure out which of them are really worthy of acquisition and will not turn out to be a waste of money.

Rating of the best DVRs with radar detectors of 2017 - TOP 8

Our rating of the best (according to customer and expert reviews) opens with the Inspector Cayman S radar detector DVR. The Ambarella A12 processor, having entered the market not so long ago, earned controversial ratings: as a DVR processor, it did not bring any serious innovations in video processing, more In addition, there were complaints about the “blurring” of the processed signal. But as a solution for combo systems, it is quite good, and the Cayman S video recorder with radar detector can prove this. As befits a modern radar detector, it is capable of signature analysis of the incoming signal. In other words, the data is assessed not only by the presence of more or less similar pulses in the given ranges used by police radars, but also by their “fingerprints”. Software-wise, this is not much different from video encoding, so the use of processors “tailored” to the video signal, as is done in video recorders, comes in handy here. In addition to the radio module, there is also a laser receiver, the data from which is analyzed according to the same principle. As for the DVR settings, it is curious that there is no resolution setting - only the recording bitrate changes, from minimum quality (12 Mbit/s) to maximum (18 Mbit/s). The resolution is constant: 1080p. The picture quality is more than adequate for a recorder that falls just short of the 10,000 price mark – and this is with a built-in radar detector! Main advantages:

  • Ability to enable signature analysis in addition to the usual City/Highway modes.
  • Compact dimensions

Minuses:

  • Does not work with memory cards below class 10
  • Primitive suction cup holder without contact shoe
  • Poor detection of radars "in the back"
9.2 / 10 Rating Reviews I chose the best inexpensive DVR with a radar detector based on reviews on the forums. I don't regret it. Glass optics, a fresh processor - good for a recorder, but it also does an excellent job as a radar detector.
At a reasonable price, this DVR with a radar detector is also well designed - for example, the remote GPS antenna in it is located in the suction cup mount itself, connecting to the recorder with contacts in the mounting block. Power is also supplied through the same block. The control buttons are located along the edges of the screen in a logical order, so it will not be difficult to understand them, even without much experience in dealing with DVRs. In addition, the buttons have night illumination. The recorder is based on a combination of an OV4689 matrix behind a six-lens lens and an Ambarella A7LA50 processor. And this, by the way, promises us the ability to shoot video in 1080p format without upsampling (although we shouldn’t discount 720p - in this mode the frame rate rises to 60, which is not superfluous when shooting fast-moving objects). The only fly in the ointment here is that the lens gives noticeable distortion and a decrease in sharpness at the edges... but what can you ask for from a compact model that costs a little more than 7 thousand rubles?

Rating of the best DVRs with radar detectors

Today you can see a DVR with an installed radar detector in many cars. They are used by taxi drivers, truck drivers and ordinary car enthusiasts.

Which is not surprising - a rich assortment allows you to choose exactly the model that suits a particular owner in all respects, from cost to functionality.

And the benefits of the device are enormous - from reducing the number of fines to the opportunity to prove your innocence in an accident. But due to the large selection, many potential buyers cannot decide which model to choose.

Therefore, we will make a small rating of the best DVRs with a radar detector, so that every car owner can easily choose the model that he needs. And we will divide the TOP 9 into several price categories, further simplifying the selection process.

The best inexpensive dash cams with radar detector

Many car owners, especially older people, try to purchase the cheapest models. This is quite justified, but only if you save on functionality and not on quality.

After all, an expensive DVR with a radar detector function often has a large number of functions that many owners do not want to deal with. Therefore, overpaying several thousand rubles when purchasing is not the best investment.

It is better to purchase a cheaper model from a serious, trusted manufacturer to be sure that the equipment will not let you down at a critical moment.

1. Inspector Cayman S

The first DVR model in our rating is easy to use. No extra features that you have to pay extra for. But the main characteristics are quite impressive. To begin with, it can be used to record high-resolution video – up to 1080p.

The viewing angle is quite large - 130 degrees diagonally. The user himself chooses the optimal duration of the videos - 1, 3 or 5 minutes. It can operate either from the vehicle's on-board power supply or from a battery. The latter's capacity of 370 mAh allows the DVR to operate autonomously for up to 20 minutes.

Of course, there are important features such as speed, time and date recording, as well as GPS and a shock sensor.

Advantages:

  • maximum ease of operation;
  • reliably captures most cameras and radars;
  • excellent build quality;
  • regular updates to the point database;
  • ease of setup;
  • not a high price;
  • minimum false alarms when driving around the city.

Flaws:

2. SHO-ME Combo No. 3 A7

This is a fairly affordable, but at the same time convenient and reliable DVR from SHO-ME. The user himself chooses the recording quality and speed. At 60 frames per second, the maximum resolution is 720p, and at 30 - 1080p. The possible length of the video ranges from 1 to 5 minutes.

Quite a wide viewing angle – 140 degrees diagonally. The 2.4-inch diagonal screen has a resolution of 320x240 pixels - not too much, but quite enough for use. A 280 mAh battery allows the device to work even when the car is turned off.

Glass lenses will last much longer than their plastic counterparts - they will not fade or become covered with a web of scratches.

Advantages:

  • good viewing angle;
  • price/functionality ratio;

More than 5 years of experience in sales tells us that these are the indicators presented below that a normal combo should have. But as practice shows, finding such a DVR with a radar detector is very problematic.

Before writing this article, we debated for a long time which devices to include in this review of the TOP 9 models, but decided to give the choice to buyers who had already purchased. After all, if they buy a lot, it means the model is good.

To buy the best DVR with radar detector of 2017 for Russia correctly, you must first familiarize yourself in detail with the models that are currently on the market, and in this article we tried to figure it out.

A cool combo should have:

  1. Reliable assembly so that it does not turn into a pile of rubbish when the warranty runs out.
  2. Minimum false positives with maximum settings.
  3. Work in different ranges, but at the same time do not miss real threats, and neither do tripods.
  4. Displaying all information about the radar on the screen.
  5. GPS informer with a timely updated database on the manufacturer’s website
  6. Normal technical support on the manufacturer’s website with a Russian representative office.
  7. Good range, so that it doesn’t notify you only when you’re approaching point blank.
  8. So that there is a feeling - “The more you use, the more you like it.”
  9. The recording quality is not lower than Full HD.
  10. So that the fastening does not fall off after several removals, because finding them separately is extremely problematic.

Why exactly these recorders with a radar detector? These models are the top sellers in our store for 2017. Let's look at the features of each of these models.

The best reliable DVR with radar detector

Neoline X-COP 9000С is a clear leader when it comes to the price of a DVR with a radar detector. The device is cheaper due to the manufacturer removing several unimportant parameters and materials that do not affect the quality of video recording. Here is an example of how to remove this unit, even if it is not secured with the included 3M fastener:

(video published by one of ADIAVTO’s clients)

A nice bonus is the ability to use parking mode with the additional purchase of a three-pin cable.

The main advantages of the Neoline X-COP 9000C recorder:

  1. Constantly updated GPS database, which many budget hybrid DVRs lack.
  2. No freezes during operation and quick response of the informer - after 30 seconds when hot and just 3 seconds when cold.
  3. High-contrast TFT 2'' display, which displays the type of speed meter, signal strength, distance to the location mark, unsafe zones, current, average and speed limit allowed on the selected section of the road.

The disadvantages include the not entirely convenient (although it depends on whom) location of the Mute button, which turns off the sound, and the impossibility of completely turning off the display.

The best recording quality DVR of 2017 with radar detector

INTEGO HUNTER II belongs to the DVRs with a radar detector of the category up to 10 thousand. Domestic drivers recognize this device as the best recorder with radar detector 2017 for several reasons, namely for:

  1. Excellent shooting quality even in poor lighting conditions (resolution 2560x1080 pixels at 30 fps) and an excellent viewing angle.
  2. Moderate number of false alarms of the device in the K range.
  3. Support for large micro-memory cards for saving video footage (up to 128 GB), while memory cards up to 32 GB maximum are usually supported.
  4. The presence of a detailed stamp on the video and the Dewarping function, which eliminates distortion (curvature of the image obtained with a wide-angle lens).
  5. Integrated assistance system for the person sitting behind the wheel.

Thanks to ADAS, the driver will be warned in time about crossing road markings, dangerous approach to a nearby car, starting to move ahead, or low light levels.

Another, but no less important advantage of this combo is the presence of the elements necessary for a recorder with a radar detector: motion detector in the frame, shock sensor, extended dynamic range (WDR).

Briefly about the disadvantages of INTEGO HUNTER II

According to customer reviews, these include:

  1. Problematic included player (swears on Windows 10 Pro x64).
  2. Unnecessary information displayed on the screen of a 3-in-1 combo hybrid
  3. Specific design.

A true video demonstrating the operation of one of the best DVRs with a radar detector of 2017 for Russia:

The best registrar in 2017 in terms of price and quality ratio

Dunobil Ratione is another cool car recorder with a convenient mount and a tactilely pleasant body.

However, according to some car owners, this best car accessory according to the 2017 rating is not entirely easy to use due to the non-intuitive menu.

In contrast, drivers note excellent assembly, accurate and timely detection of police radars (the task of a radar detector), and compactness.

A few more advantages of this hybrid:

  1. High resolution when shooting video at a frequency of 30 fps (2560*1080 pixels).
  2. Excellent information content of the frame (by the way, the viewing angle of the car recorder lens is 170 degrees).
  3. The ability of the device to warn about a speed camera ahead!
  4. Equipped with a GPS module that can be connected to a computer (USB cable included).
  5. Classic mount - on the windshield of a car, suction cup bracket with through power supply (which is a big plus).

Review of DVRs with radar detectors – Behind the wheel magazine

The windshield of a modern car is increasingly overgrown with gadgets of varying degrees of usefulness: a holder with a smartphone, a video recorder, a radar detector, and some even manage to attach a rather large tablet here. Visibility suffers, and the number of sockets in the cabin is limited. It would not hurt to combine at least a couple of devices in one case. Manufacturers met halfway and hid the recorder and radar detector in a single unit.

The subclass is just being formed, and therefore there is no smell of abundance here yet. But we found seven such devices on sale and gave them an exam, identifying the leader based on a set of parameters.

The cameras were tested traditionally, recording videos during the day and in the dark (they are available to readers of the electronic version of the magazine and in augmented reality for the paper version). The radar detectors were driven along the same route, laid across Moscow and the Moscow region.

Over 65 test kilometers, we encountered almost three dozen video recording systems.

Color pictures

The tested devices are clearly divided into two groups. The first unites products from SHO-ME, KARKAM and Prology. Their creators worked not only on the hardware, but also on the functional combination of the recorder and radar detector. The settings are managed by a general menu, and notifications about cameras are displayed on the color screen: it’s convenient and beautiful.

In four other models, the devices are united only by a single housing. In other words, a folding display was attached to the bottom of a traditional radar detector. The controls are separate: the menu on the monitor is for the recorder, and for the radar detector there is a modest line at the end of the device, which displays warnings about cameras and settings parameters.

In addition to a bunch of main shortcomings, Vizant did not like the short power cable - its length is not enough to lay the cable in a roundabout way, under the casing. In addition, the power connector is located on the left side of the device, which is why the wire hangs in the middle of the console and interferes with the use of the gear lever, audio system and climate control.

Related materials

Despite all the similarity in functionality of the devices we tested, the price range is significant: the difference between the minimum and maximum is almost twofold. The cheapest is Subini. The secret of accessibility lies in the level of shooting quality.

All its rivals write honest Full HD with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, which is logical for such sophisticated gadgets. But Subini only has 1280x720 pixels. In addition, it has the most modest camera viewing angle (both declared by the manufacturer and actual).

A clear outsider in the registrar standings. The rest of the pictures are similar, although there are still some nuances. For example, Conqueror, Prology and Vizant produce flare around light sources in the frame - headlights and street lamps.

For others it is not so noticeable.

Mystery and Vizant stood out from the crowd with slightly more grainy images when shooting at night.

All Full HD class recorders ensure readability of license plates at a distance of 10–12 meters. True, only in ideal conditions: when the room is clean and the car being rented is driving at approximately the same speed.

Otherwise, you have to guess the symbols on the tin. And it is completely unrealistic to recognize them from oncoming cars.

The same is true for night photography, which is a compliment for these devices, because their optics are not as powerful as those of video equipment.

SHO-ME and KARKAM are unattainable for their competitors in terms of the level of the database and the quality of the tips. These devices divide traffic cameras into groups and are able to distinguish between devices that measure actual or average speed, control the allocated lane, and even recognize a fake Arrow. Moreover, the warning about the pseudo-Strelka is issued later than usual, because there is nothing to fear.

Moreover, the warning about the pseudo-Strelka is issued later than usual, because there is nothing to fear.

I also praise all the test participants for their high-quality suction cups, which securely fix the device even on cold glass. I remember that in previous tests one or two Velcro always caused trouble.

Mystery and Vizant devices do not have an updated database with GPS coordinates of stationary cameras.

They rely solely on radar. Speed meters operating in the old-fashioned way, with radiation (on the route we met the Strelka, Chris, Avtouragan and VOCORD Traffic complexes), they detected without failure.

But outside the field of view of these devices remain installations that record entry into public transport lanes, and newfangled Avtodoriya complexes that measure the average speed on a section of road. To put it simply, they are ordinary photo and video cameras. And if there is no radiation, there is no signal to the detector.

But there are “letters of happiness”. Therefore, if you do not want to receive them, I recommend that when selecting a radar detector, you do not consider devices without a GPS module.

Communication with satellites does not make the product good by default. For example, the products Prology, Subini and Conqueror have a camera database, but Avtodoriya is not included in it.

Prology, on the contrary, warns not only about cameras, but even about unregulated pedestrian crossings, speed bumps and speed limits. However, the benefit from this is minimal. The device recognizes zebras selectively, and I haven’t heard any other clues during my two weeks of travel.

And even if everything promised was present in the gadget’s memory, there would be little joy: you could go crazy from the continuous flow of information.

All tested devices with updated databases of stationary cameras warn the driver in advance, at a distance of at least 400 meters in the city, and in the “highway” mode - from eight hundred. At the same time, the devices react to radiation (in the photo there is a red scale on the right). The radar detector will protect you if the speed meter is not stored in the device’s memory.

True, there is also a minus: an alarming squeak from a detected signal is heard even after passing Strelok located in the oncoming lane.

Nothing can be done - the costs of increased vigilance

Mystery and Vizant, in addition to the lack of a GPS module, have other features in common that are not the most commendable. This couple turned out to be the most talkative. Noise immunity is poor both on the highway and in reduced sensitivity mode for the city.

False positives in the K-band are normal, but the devices also “see” non-existent Arrows (for all test participants they are output to a separate signal, although they operate in the same K-band). In addition, both gadgets turned out to be defective.

Mystery's display didn't work initially, which prevented me from exploring the DVR's menus and settings. It’s good that the recording was turned on automatically: I still received files for comparison with competitors. And Vizant turned out to be extremely heat-loving.

Leave it in a cold car for several hours and the camera goes into hibernation. The only consolation is that the radar detectors of these devices are equipped with a separate control unit and the whims of the recorders do not apply to them.
